Aimee Lou Wood has been the stand out star of The White Lotus season three and she’s just shared the hydrating highlighter balm she uses to get her ‘Thailand glow’
After the much anticipated return of The White Lotus for its third season, one person has stood out as the breakout star of the season – Aimee Lou Wood. The actress may have been best known for appearing in Sex Education, but her recent role as free-spirited Chelsea in the latest Thailand-based season of The White Lotus has cemented her as an icon.
In a recent Instagram video, Aimee spoke about embracing her natural beauty as she did her makeup using a selection of products from Merit, with one item in particular being a favourite for recreating her Thailand glow.
Using the Day Glow Highlighting Balm, £28, on her cheeks, Aimee said: “The one thing I miss about Thailand – I was there for seven months filming White Lotus – I had a constant glow. A lot of that was sweat (it was very humid – I’m not really a highlighter girl) but ever since Thailand it’s become essential to me.”

To help her replicate the sought after holiday glow, Aimee used Merit’s Day Glow Highlighting Balm on her cheekbones, applying it directly onto her skin before buffing it in with her finger tips. Rather than a typical powder or liquid formula, the highlighter has an unusual stick formula that makes it easy to apply with zero product wastage so you can use it anywhere that you want to get a natural-looking glow.
One thing that sets it apart from most highlighters is that it doesn’t have a sparkly or glittery finish. Instead it leaves a dewy, hydrated glow on your skin that looks just like the natural holiday glow Aimee’s trying to replicate.
The micro-fine pearls help to reflect light and illuminate the skin, whilst plant-based squalene locks in hydration and moisture so it hydrates your skin as you wear it. Ingredients including phytosterol and amino acid blends also help encourage a healthy skin barrier, acting as both skincare and makeup.
Reviews have also been praising it, with one saying: “Love this product! Goes on smooth, stays on, and gives my skin the perfect glow !” Whilst another agreed: “Love!! Easy and adds to simple daytime look”
Someone else chimed in: “I ordered the Bounce color and it is less pink in person than it looks in the photos. It’s more of a neutral kind of white-ish shimmer. Very subtle and natural looking, which I love. Not for someone looking for a heavy shimmer. I use on eyes and cheeks. Does not upset my sensitive acne-prone skin.”
However one person did write: “I love the convenience of this. I love the shade and the sheen and glow. However, it doesn’t really last.”
You can pick up the Merit’s Day Glow Highlighting Balm in four different shades to suit all skin tones.
You can also snap up similar products with the NUDESTIX Nudies Glow All Over Face Highlight Colour, £31.50, and the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick, £25. Both products have a similar stick-like formula and balm texture, however they have more of a shimmering finish than the Merit one if you prefer a little sparkle in your beauty look.
