The new Theragun Mini is the lightest and quietest ever with the capability to create therapy based on your body’s energy level

Marathon season is coming soon and recovery is paramount when it comes to training for long run. Wellness brand Therabody has launched a new and upgraded version of their palm-sized massage gun.

The new Theragun Mini, 3rd generation, is 30% smaller and lighter than the original to reduce the weight of your gym kit or luggage. With an improved ergonomic grip, it allows you to reach your neck and back easier. The Gen 3 model is equipped with a quiet adaptive motor to deliver professional-grade percussive therapy on-the-go. whether you use it to relieve aches, ease tension or reduce stress.

The new device, at £175, comes with three attachments, can now be paired with Coach by Therabody free of charge so you can create personalised, real-time recovery routines. Having said that, the price is £44 more expensive than its predecessor.

Available in two stylish colourways — Black and Desert Rose, the Mini’s design reflects consumer demand for personalisation and aesthetics.

Coach by Therabody is an app that connects with wearables and fitness app like your Apple Watch or Garmin to provide a personalised recovery regimen based on your wellness goals, injuries, and body’s current energy levels. Therabody founder Jason Wersland said: “It made perfect sense to partner with Garmin to blend the best of our recovery offerings and technology with their extensive network of data.”

The Theragun Mini Gen 2 model, £175, was a bliss to use post-marathon thanks to the impressive 120 hours of battery life and travel-friendly pouch. The wide head “dampener” attachment is my favourite as it targets a wider muscle group and works to reduce aches and pains in tender areas above my knees and lower thigh.

One downfall is the travel pouch – as it is designed to fit perfectly with one attachment, meaning either I have to bring the extra attachments in another bag or leave them at home. It would be interesting to see if the Theragun MIni Gen 3 comes with a bigger travel case.

But the compact size has ticked boxes for shoppers and you can check out the Theragun Mini here. If you prefer a pistol grip style, Renpho’s Mini Massage Gun is on 20% off at Amazon. At £59.99, you have four attachments and a carry case. Wahl’s Cordless Mini Massage Gun with LCD display is reduced from £89.99 to £71.99.
