Ryanair passengers have been hit with a new rule, adding to the tight hand luggage restrictions on board. Luckily this Antler cabin bag is the perfect size to avoid paying extra
Despite its budget airline status, Ryanair passengers have had to contend with quite a few tricky rules over the last few years, the latest of which sees the airline banning paper boarding passes. The new rule will come into effect from May 2025, with passengers no longer able to use a physical ticket – instead, they’ll only be allowed to pass through the airport and onto their flight with a digital pass on their phone.
This new rule joins another contentious rule from the budget airline, which saw passengers frustrated by shrinking hand luggage restrictions. However, if you’re worried about racking up additional costs before even boarding the plane, this Antler Stamford 2.0 Cabin Bag, £200, meets all the sizing requirements, so you won’t need to pay extra at boarding.

For passengers whose bags don’t meet the requirements, you’ll be expected to pay an additional cost at the boarding gate for your bag to be placed into the hold, which can quickly add high costs to your ‘budget’ flight. However, the Antler Stamford 2.0 Cabin Bag perfectly matches the 40cm x 20cm x 25cm restrictions.
Despite fitting into the tight regulations, the Stamford 2.0 Cabin Bag is deceptively spacious inside, giving you plenty of space for all the essentials you might need for a long weekend away. It has three internal zipped compartments, mesh lid pockets and a small side zip pocket for your valuables, as well as compressions packing straps to help keep your things in place.
The cabin bag has also been designed to be easy to move around, with “whisper quiet” Japanese wheels with 360° rotation. It also comes with a TSA-approved combination lock, so you never need to worry about losing your keys at the other end. It also weighs just 2.77kg, making it easy to manoeuvre and lift into overhead lockers.
Antler shoppers have also been praising the Stamford 2.0 Cabin Bag, with one saying: “Purchased specifically for dimensions as cabin baggage on Ryanair.”
Another added: “A well-made, light but robust cabin bag that fits both EasyJet and Ryanair size limits. Very neat and useful inside pockets and dividers and excellence four wheel manoeuvrability. Very good value for money.”
Some however did comment: “Disappointed in how easily scratches show up, used once for train travel and it is very scratched already. Otherwise functional as expected.”
Other cabin cases that meet Ryanair’s requirements include the Aerolite 40L Lightweight Hard Shell Carry On Cabin Suitcase, which is currently on sale down from £74.99 to £39.99. You can also pick up this budget-friendly Ryanair Cabin Bag Lightweight Suitcase for £16.99, down from £19.99.
