The generous donations of Mirror readers to our Christmas Appeal means the charity Missing People can support devastated families as they search for their loved ones

Kind-hearted Mirror readers have raised thousands of pounds for the charity Missing People.

Your generous donations to our Christmas Appeal will help support the families of those who are missing. They include Andrea Gharsallah, whose daughter Georgina – a mother of two – vanished six years ago.

Andrea said: “We cannot thank your readers enough for their incredible generosity and compassion. Knowing that so many people care about families like ours gives us strength during the most difficult times.

“When Georgina went missing, Missing People was there for us when we felt lost and overwhelmed. Their support has been a lifeline – offering guidance, hope, and a community that understands what we’re going through.”

She added: “Your support for this vital charity means that other families in crisis can also access the help they so desperately need. Thank you for making a real difference to families like ours who are navigating the unimaginable.”

Each year around 170,000 people go missing, including 75,000 children. Missing People helps to reconnect missing people with their families and offers support and counselling to those who are suffering the heartache of not knowing what has happened to their loved one.

Our readers donated nearly £15,000 to the Christmas Appeal. The money will help the charity staff its helpline, pay for support workers who comfort and advise families, and for counselling sessions to help someone cope with the toughest of all losses. The charity’s chief executive Jo Youle said the donations have come at a time when people need help more than ever.

“To all the amazing readers who donated to the Christmas Appeal, thank you for your incredible support,” she said. “We are truly honoured to have your backing. Thank you for the opportunity to help missing people find support and safety. Thanks to your kindness, we can be there during moments of crisis, providing vital support to people experiencing mental health problems, and children who are being exploited.

“Your contributions also make a truly life-changing difference to their loved ones. Your compassion will make a huge difference for the people we’re here for in 2025. Because of you, we can offer hope, safety and reconnection every day. Thank you for standing with those affected and for showing your support for a cause of our times.”
