Three teenagers were sent flying from their seats when a safety harness seemingly failed during a fairground ride.
Moments before the incident they could be seen laughing and joking as they looked forward to the ride. But as the ride speeds up their joy turns to horror as they start to be thrown around.
In terrifying footage, the trio can then be seen desperately holding on during the pendulum ride at the fair in Yeisk, Krasnodar Krai region of Russia. Despite their best efforts they were sent flying from their seats as the harness seemingly broke, amid screams of horror.
As the ride picks up speed, one can be seen being thrown from their seats while two others are seen clinging on for dear life as they scream in terror. Local media reported one of the teenagers suffered broken ribs while the other two suffered abrasions and scars, including injuries to their hands.
The local prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the owner of the ride as well as into safety officials who oversee the operation of rides in the park. There have been no updates on the injuries or condition of the teenagers, who have not been named. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier this year two thrill-seekers were thrown from a fairground ride before smashing into a fence. The heart-stopping incident was filmed by a shocked onlooker.
The 10-second video clip shows The Octopus ride spinning around but the pair then suddenly fly out of the carriage they are in. They collide with a metal fence around the ride and 30ft (10m) along the ground.
The accident took place at a funfair in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia , on Friday. After receiving first aid, the victims were taken to the nearby Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further medical care.
Fire department spokesperson Ordine Gilu said a team was sent to the scene after receiving a distress call at 8.58pm. He added: “Firefighters, including Emergency Medical Response Service officers, arrived at the scene minutes later. They provided first aid to the injured victims before they were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.”
