It’s the most-downloaded game on Apple devices, and second most-downloaded on Android
Block Blast! is one of the most-played mobile games in the world. According to data on singular.net, it is the most-downloaded game on Apple devices so far this year, and the second on Android – behind only the global juggernaut Roblox.
It’s an easy game to pick up and play – just makes lines with blocks to eliminate them. But if you want to rack up a really massive score you have to do more than just drag blocks into the first space you see.
Reddit user No-Engineer7379 posted some useful tips on how to get a big score on the game. The user said they have a high score of 77,000, which is undeniably impressive – but it’s some way behind the world record, which stands at an unbelievable 828,267,544.
Combos are important
Combos are the way to building up a massive score, and can be achieved by clearing multiple lines or rows at once. No-Engineer7379 wrote: “Always try to build your combo.
“I feel like people don’t realise you actually have to think in this game. Takes me a while to place even the three blocks I get because I neeed to hold my combo or else I lose…”
They added you should always clear a line on the third block placed in a combo, adding: “This way you can visually see the blocks you have and be able to use two of them before making a line.”
Think carefully about where you place your blocks
No-Engineer7379 said taking time to think carefully about where to place blocks is the key to victory. They said: “It takes me at least two minutes to think about where I will put my blocks before placing them when you get above 20K. Don’t let it stun you from playing though, it’s not too bad.”
Practice makes perfect
“The higher score you get, the higher you can get,” No-Engineer7379 said. “You cannot just score 100k on one try.
“At first my best was 6k, then 9k, then 14k, then 22k, then 77k. As you can see it gets easier to score higher the more you practice.”
