The hit ABBA musical Mamma Mia! is set to return in 2026 with the West End show set to play a number of shows across the UK in cities including Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh

Get ready for a musical extravaganza as Mamma Mia! is set to make a comeback in 2026. The hit West End show will take the stage at a number of venues across the UK, with the full city list including Bristol, Oxford, Edinburgh, Swansea and Manchester, with prices starting from £19.50.

2026 will mark the musical’s 26th anniversary, having first debuted in 1999. The show’s popularity soared with the release of two blockbuster movies, starring Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep, which brought the musical into the mainstream.

Although the cast for the 2026 tour has not been announced, previous actors who took part in the 2024-25 tour include Izi Maxell, Mazz Murray, Ben Irish, Stephen Beckett, Christopher Dickins, and Luke Jasztal. It remains to be seen whether they will reprise their roles for the upcoming UK tour.

Manchester Evening News had previously reviewed the Mamma Mia! musical tour in Manchester in 2018, where Daisy Jackson wrote: “The tale follows young Sophie as she prepares for her wedding to her beau Sky. Although Sophie is the axis around whom the story spins, it’s her mother Donna (played by the brilliant Shona White) who’s the star of the show.

“Donna and her two oldest friends, Tanya and Rosie, deliver the musical’s most memorable moments. For every one of Sophie’s sickly-sweet ballads and lovesick gazes, there’s a lashing of filthy-minded innuendo from her mother and honorary aunts. The comedic timing is so spot on it’s easy to believe these actors have genuinely been bosom pals for decades.

“When Tanya (Helen Anker) parades around teasing a young groomsman during Does Your Mother Know, the audience are beside themselves with glee. It’s a scene that’s been slotted into the production purely for entertainment purposes and it’s met with rapturous applause.”

Jackson concludes her review by stating: “Until Abba finally agree to a reunion tour (come on, pretty please), Mamma Mia will continue to fill the disco void in our lives nicely.”
