A poll of 2,000 adults found 45 per cent appreciate fresh sheets on the bed and 36 per cent love nothing more than getting a parcel delivered earlier than expected

The top 20 ‘home wins’ include finding matching socks in the dryer, someone actually replacing the toilet roll, and discovering the last ice cream at the back of the freezer.

A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that 45 per cent appreciate fresh sheets on the bed and 36 per cent love nothing more than receiving a parcel earlier than expected. While 26 per cent relish reaching ‘washing basket zero’ – with nothing left to clean, 24 per cent take pleasure in catching their favourite film starting on TV. And a whopping seven in 10 of those who’ve experienced them believe a small home win can turn a bad day into a good one.

Cadbury Ice Cream commissioned the research alongside the launch of its ‘They’ll be Huge In Your House’ campaign which sees the brand’s Dairy Milk sticks now available in mini form.

Kim Jacks for the brand said: “This launch has shown us that small can be mighty and, to celebrate that, we wanted to discover the other little things which are big in people’s homes.

“Uncovering the tiny daily joys, which are secretly huge in households, shows the impact they can have in greatly lifting your mood. Wins don’t have to be confined to the house, but there’s something satisfying about celebrating them when they happen at home.”

The research also found for those who’ve experienced a small win at home, almost half actively celebrate them when they arise. With one in 20 lucky enough to experience them daily.

Among those who celebrate them, creating “wins” for other household members is just as common, with more than three quarters also doing so.

This could be cooking someone their favourite meal (49 per cent), letting them choose what’s on TV (42 per cent), or taking on one of their chores (41 per cent). With 28 per cent stocking the freezer with a loved one’s favourite ice cream as a treat.

When it comes to moments such as enjoying ice cream as a home win, almost a quarter want to share this with the rest of the household, with 34 per cent preferring to do so in the garden when the weather’s good.

For sweet treats in general, 36 per cent want to enjoy them with no interruptions, while 21 per cent would rather sneak one before anyone notices.

Overall, respondents claim these wins serve as a reminder to feel grateful for 37 per cent and give 32 per cent a feeling they have things under control according to the OnePoll.com data.

Kim added: “We loved revealing those little things that are big in households, all of which can be celebrated and enjoyed in their own way.

“Sometimes it’s the little treats that can brighten the everyday and make all the difference. Sharing in this joy with others in the household is a great way to spread these feel-good moments.”
