Tottenham are monitoring Randal Kolo Muani’s situation after the France international forward was told he is free to leave Paris Saint-Germain this month but there is also rival interest from both home and abroad
Tottenham have explored the financial conditions of a potential January swoop for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.
The France international striker is free to leave the Ligue 1 giants this month after being told he is no longer part of Luis Enrique’s plans at the Parc des Princes.
There is vast interest from both the Premier League and Europe with Italian giants Juventus currently understood to be leading the charge for the player’s signature.
However, Spurs are also attentive to Kolo Muani’s availability and would be interested in pursuing an initial loan move, providing they can make the numbers work. They have already held initial talks with PSG to gather information but any deal would require them to pay a significant percentage of the Frenchman’s wages, which are understood to be worth upwards of £160,000 per week.
An additional sticking point is that PSG are insisting on an obligation to buy clause as they want to recoup a large chunk of the £76.4million fee (including add-ons) they shelled out to Eintracht Frankfurt for the forward’s signature in September 2023.
It’s believed PSG are looking for at least £50million plus a potential loan fee in order to strike a total agreement though they’re open to negotiation on that figure.
Tottenham, who are open to strengthening their forward line and also have other striker targets on their radar, have cash to spend and are under no financial constraints this month as Ange Postecoglou bids to revive his side’s turbulent season.
The Spurs hierarchy are willing to back the Aussie with a number of new signings in the market and his job remains safe despite the club’s concerning form.
Aston Villa are also thought to be monitoring Kolo Muani’s situation and French sources suggest Monaco have already failed with an approach in the past week.
Chelsea are not interested in the 26-year-old despite reports suggesting they will move for the attacker, who has been floated around by intermediaries.
Spurs have already pounced to wrap up their first signing of the January transfer window in the form of Slavia Prague goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.
The highly-rated 21-year-old shot-stopper was identified via data algorithms by Spurs technical director Johan Lange and the club then scouts to watch the youngster in the Europa League for Slavia, when he impressed.
Kinsky flew into London last weekend to undergo a medical before sealing a move worth £12.5m plus add-ons.
Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has since revealed he was consulted by his compatriot ahead of the transfer as Cech has previously worked closely with Kinsky’s agency Sport Invest.
Cech told Czech outlet iSport that he was happy to offer his advice ahead of such a big move, explaining: “I talked to him about it and told him my opinion. But he is very lucky to have a great background at home. His father, who has tremendous experience, creates this for him. Overall, it is clear from his career that they have an excellent relationship, which helps him grow. He knows my opinion, but I don’t think he even needed it.”
