A woman tragically lost her life while vacationing in Brazil to see a Madonna concert after she was chased by thieves before falling to her death from a 15-metre wall

A young Israeli woman tragically lost her life in Brazil on Monday night after falling from a wall in Rio de Janeiro while attempting to evade thieves as she visited the country to see a Madonna concert.

The local publication O Dia identified the victim as Alma Bohadana. She was reportedly walking with her boyfriend when they spotted an approaching motorcycle and fled, fearing a robbery.

In her attempt to escape, Bohadana jumped over a wall, tragically falling approximately 49 feet (15 metres) to her death – near the famous Christ the Redeemer statue. Her boyfriend, named by local press as Dan Hen, has been questioned by police three times, according to O Dia.

He allegedly informed them that he and Bohadana were frightened by the motorcycle but did not specify whether they were confronted by the rider or if they saw a weapon. The police investigation is still underway.

As per the Brazilian publication g1, Bohadana had been in Rio for roughly 10 days following a three-month stay in Bahia. Staff at the hostel where she resided told g1 that she was friendly and loved by all.

“She was a beautiful soul, an artist, always smiling, radiant, talkative, very intelligent,” remarked one colleague. “She had learned to samba and shared a lot of her Israeli culture with me. Everyone in the hostel loved her. She will stay here forever, with us, in the mandala that she painted with so much love in every detail.”

The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that its department for Israelis overseas, along with Israel’s consul general in Brazil Neta Avrahami, and Keren Hayesod’s representative in Rio de Janeiro Mariano Hirsch, are providing assistance to the bereaved family and coordinating the repatriation of the woman’s remains for burial in Israel.

As grifting crimes are common in Brazil, news of this woman’s death comes just a week after a woman was caught on camera wheeling her deceased uncle into a bank to sign a $3,200 loan.

The shocking footage shows Erika de Souza propping up Paulo Braga’s head with her hand as she positioned a pen between his fingers and encouraged him to sign a document. Bank staff in Rio de Janeiro alerted authorities, and paramedics confirmed the 68-year-old man was indeed dead.

Erika spent 16 days in jail before being released last week while an ongoing investigation continues. She faces charges of vilifying a corpse and attempted theft through fraud.

Additionally, police have initiated a separate manslaughter investigation.
