A decade-old clip of Travis Kelce is sure to make awkward viewing for the NFL star just days after he announced his engagement to Taylor Swift
It’s sure to be the showbiz wedding of the year – but a resurfaced clip has shown how things could have been so different. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are officially engaged after months of speculation.
But while the power couple’s happy news broke the internet last week, a clip of Travis from a decade ago makes for awkward viewing for the NFL star. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, appeared to admit he preferred Katy Perry, 40, over his new fiancee, also 35.
The unearthed footage from a previous interview with AfterBuzz TV saw Travis play a fun game of ‘Kiss, Marry, Kill’. He was given the options of Taylor, Katy and Ariana Grande.

After much deliberation, he chose to kill off Ariana, although he admitted he didn’t “wanna kill any of them”. He told the show: “Damn, that’s messed up. I don’t wanna kill any of them.
“Kill Ariana, unfortunately. Love you, but you’re gone.” He went on: “Taylor to kiss and… what was the last one? Katy Perry would be to marry.”
Now, fans have reacted to the decade-old clip. One joked it should be played at his and Taylor’s wedding. It comes after the duo went public with their sweet news. Two years on from their first date, the pair sent their followers into overdrive with a joint social media announcement.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they said, alongside a dynamite stick emoji. The Shake It Off singer, who has 280 million Instagram followers, also shared a heart on her Instagram story with her song So High School from the anthology version of the album The Tortured Poets Department, which is said to have been written about her fiancé, playing in the background.
According to TMZ, Travis was heavily involved in the design of Taylor’s new engagement ring. The outlet said after the announcement that the ring is an Old Mine Brilliant Cut by designer Kindred Lubeck. They added that sources say the jewellery was worked on by Travis on the design.
News of the pair’s impending wedding was announced a month after fans were adamant they had discovered the pair’s happy news. At the time, fans spotted a hidden detail on a phone screen that had them believing the couple had become engaged in secret.
In July, Taylor shared snaps of herself and Travis. In them, his phone’s lockscreen showed a picture of himself and Taylor posing alongside one another, smiling from ear to ear.
Taylor was seen holding her hands up with her fingers spread out. It looked as though she had a ring on her finger and one fan commented: “Travis’s lockscreen is she pointing at her hand like she is… Engaged ??????”
A second added: “Not to be that person but in his lock screen is she holding up her hand with a ring on her finger. is it an engagement photo?”
