Fury’s dad stole the headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this week by headbutting a member of Usyk’s team and he was absent in a recent picture
Lennox Lewis makes prediction for Tyson Fury v Oleksandr Usyk
Eagle-eyed boxing fans have spotted the absence of Tyson Fury’s dad in a recent picture of his team.
Heavyweight champion Fury is just days away from his undisputed world title clash against Usyk in Saudi Arabia. Tensions were high at the start of fight week as Fury’s dad John headbutted a member of Usyk’s team. John came off worse despite being the initiator and was left covered in his own blood, whilst Usyk’s friend had a small cut above his eye.
Fury posted a picture of his massive entourage in the ring as he stood alongside the likes of coach SugarHill Steward and brother Shane. Noticeably absent from the picture was his dad, which prompted one fan to ask: “Big John is at hospital getting stitches!” A second user wrote: “Big John got sent to bed” before a third added: “Where’s Big John, he didn’t get the invite!?”
John has since apologised for his actions but claims he was sticking up for his son, who he felt was being disrespected by Usyk’s team. Fury channelled WWE star The Undertaker on Tuesday evening by wearing the same hat he donned before his epic trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder and warned Usyk he will suffer the same fate as his old rival.
“I predict somebody’s 0 has got to go. Someone’s 0 has to go to and it’s going to be that team over there unfortunate for them. Usyk is great fighter, Olympic gold medalist, cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion. Unfortunately for him, he has to come up against the great Tyson Fury in the era of me,” he said.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to lock horns in a huge bout on May 18 with each fighter attempting to etch their name in boxing history as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. The stakes couldn’t be higher as the pair will go head to head for the prestigious WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.
“I’m really looking forward to Saturday night. Even if he had 20-million people screaming his name, they cannot fight for him on the night. When there’s two men in there on the night, it’s going to be daunting when he’s got The Undertaker in the ring with him. I’m coming for you sucker, sausage.”
Usyk thought Fury looked slimmer than usual at their grand arrivals but the Brit dismissed any rumours about coming in at a career-lowest weight for the fight. “I’ll tell you my weight, it’s about 19-stone. People say to me all the time ‘You’re looking skinny’ but I’m weighing the exact same on the scales I’ve been using for the last 10 years,” he added.
