The Met Office’s yellow weather warning is set to bring delays to this morning’s rush hour commute – with ‘areas of fog, including some dense patches reducing visibility’

Thick, dense fog is set to blanket more than 40 areas across the country today, with travel disruption likely and delays expected throughout rush hour, the Met Office has warned.

The yellow weather warning was issued from 4.09am this morning and will remain in place until 9am. It covers 42 areas across the UK, including London, Chelmsford, Oxford, Southampton. Bus and train services, as well as flights and ferry travel may be impacted. Brits have been urged to check road conditions before they travel, and drivers have been warned to leave extra time for their journeys this morning.

The Met Office said: “Areas of fog, including some dense patches reducing visibility to less than 100 metres at times, will impact travel during the morning rush hour. Fog will, however, slowly lift and clear through this morning.”

“Make sure you know how to switch on your fog lights, and check they are working before setting off on your journey. Bus and train services, as well as flights and ferry travel may also be affected; check for updates from your travel company and follow their advice.”
