The Met Office has extended one of two yellow weather warnings across large parts of the UK and surrounding areas following fierce thunderstorms and heavy rain overnight.
The first yellow weather warning covered an area from Portsmouth to Plymouth, and northwards to South Wales. It was announced at 8pm on Wednesday, as the Met Office warned of difficult driving conditions and possible flooding. The warning remains in place until 8am this morning.
The second warning came into force at 11pm last night, covering the majority of southeast England, stretching as far north as Oxford and including London. The warning was originally in place until 6am this morning, but has now been extended until 10am following fierce thunderstorms and rain overnight.
It also comes as Thursday could be the warmest day of the year so far after warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms overnight across southern parts of England and Wales.
