The UK weather this week will continue to be glorious – following the 19.2C highs in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire and 18.4C in Nantwich, Cheshire – as the mini heatwave weather continues

The UK is set to be warmer than popular holiday hotspots across the Costa del Sol this week.

Brits will continue to bask in temperatures warmer than 20C amid the mini heatwave-style weather for some time yet. The hottest day this week is expected to be Friday, when the majority of the UK will see the mercury rocket to at least 20C. It will be the warmest across the Southwest of England.

And at the same time, it will be only around 17C in Benalmádena in the Costa del Sol, Spain – a resort loved by Brits. Torremolinos, just down the road, will be 16C on Friday. It is a rare occasion holiday destinations across southern Spain will be colder than most regions in the UK in early April.

Rain is expected to lash the Costa del Sol and other parts of Spain, including Cádiz, on Friday too. The rain will be the heaviest throughout Friday night, and it will be thundery at times. However, no significant rain is anticipated across the UK across the whole week, forecasters say.

It was 19.2C in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, and 18.4C in Nantwich, Cheshire, two of the warmest places in the UK on Monday. However, the temperatures are expected to rise again throughout the week, culminating in Friday’s glorious high.

But the hottest spots on Friday are likely to be places across the Southwest of England and Wales. Coastal spots in Carmarthenshire are anticipated to be the among the warmest places with 21C highs expected there, data from forecasters at Ventusky shows. It is likely to be just as hot in Dorset as well, for instance.

The mini heatwave-style weather is set to carry on for several days afterwards too, the Met Office says. On its website, in reference to the period of Saturday April 5 to Monday April 14, the Met Office adds: “High pressure will tend to dominate through this period, often centred to the north or northeast of the UK, maintaining largely settled conditions for much of the time. This should result in lengthy spells of dry and bright weather, but with a risk of patchy overnight frosts where winds fall light.

“There is also the chance of some areas of low cloud or fog, especially around some coasts. Later in the period, it may turn more unsettled at times as rain or showers try and push in from the west. It will be breezy at times, especially in the southwest early on. Daytime temperatures will tend to fluctuate depending on the wind direction and cloud amounts, with the potential for warm conditions at times but also cooler interludes.”
