A new report has revealed which of the UK’s most popular driving test centres give learners the best chance of passing their test. Using the latest data from GOV.UK, the Driving Test Report ranks the top 100 most popular driving test centres in the UK based on their average pass rates between April 2024 and March 2025.

With long waiting lists and limited test availability across the country, many learners are under pressure to pass their driving test on their first attempt. The report, which comes from DS Automobiles Accessories and Online Marketing Surgery, offers an insight for new drivers deciding where to book their test – or simply wanting to know how their local centre measures up.

Research found that Ipswich is the easiest area to pass your driving test out of these popular test centres with a 63.1% pass rate. Meanwhile, the hardest area to pass your driving test is Wolverhampton, with a 33.4% pass rate.

Goodmayes in London conducted the most tests over this period, with 21,961 in one year. This test centre also had the highest number of passes with 9,593.

The fresh survey comes as the DVLA issued a warning to drivers who passed their test more than nine years ago. In a post, DVLA said: “So much can happen in 10 years!

“Take a breather to reflect on where you are and where you’ve been. Before you carry on your journey, remember to renew your driving licence if you last renewed it 10 years ago.”

On its ‘renew your driving licence’ page, DVLA says that legally, “you must renew a photocard licence every 10 years.” Don’t worry about keeping track of this as drivers who need to renew will “receive a reminder before your current licence ends.”
