With spring finally here, it’s the perfect time to invest in a lightweight jacket and we’ve found one from Uniqlo that rivals Carhartt’s best-selling Detroit jacket
It’s officially spring, which also means it’s officially lightweight jacket season, and if you’re in the market for a new one, we’ve got just the one for you. Barn jackets and work jackets have been arguably the biggest jacket trend this season (along with quilted styles), and Uniqlo’s £50 one rivals Carhatt’s very popular and best-selling Detroit jacket.
The Zip-Up Blouson is available in three different colourways: a neutral beige (similar to Carhartt’s various work jackets), a charcoal grey, and a spring-ready purple. Although the jacket sits in the men’s section on the Uniqlo website, it is technically a unisex piece and is advertised on both male and female models.
The jacket is made of a cotton canvas material, and provides a crisp, tailored, almost shacket-like look. The lightweight material is ideal for the warmer months and thanks to the structure look, you can easily get away with dressing this piece up or down depending on the occasion.

We’re not the only ones who are big fans of this luxe-looking piece, with TikTok user @farrahespina sharing Uniqlo’s similarity to Carhartt’s jackets on their page. Commenters couldn’t believe the similarities writing: “I’m regretting walking past this two days ago now”, “you made me buy it girl! now I got that same colour and an extra purple”, and “when did Uniqlo become the dupe?”.
With a 4.9-average star review on the website, it’s safe to say this jacket has become a shopper favourite. One customer loved that it was unisex writing: “So Nice, it’s so stylish on me (girl) but also on my boyfriend!! Totally recommend. The jacket is good for spring and summer evening. The quality and sewing is good!”
It was recommended to opt for a smaller size if you’re a girl or prefer a more fitted jacket rather than an oversized one.
