Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz seem to be going solo away from the Beckham family, and mum Victoria has shared her worry that the worst could happen if he doesn’t come back into the fold
The Beckham family once seemed inseparable, but that’s all changed. Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz have been distancing themselves from his parents and siblings for months, and it seems his absence from David Beckham’s 50th birthday is the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Insiders say that things have “not been the same” since Brooklyn and Nicola got together in 2019, and their marriage in 2022 didn’t seem to ease things between the newlyweds and his family. After years of tension, however, it appears that the family ties are at a breaking point after the party, with David seeing the couple’s absence as a “real blow”.
While David is understandably upset by Brooklyn’s choice not to attend his milestone event – despite confirming that he’d be there just a week before – Victoria Beckham has her own concerns. The doting mum fears that unless things change soon, Brooklyn will only veer further away from his loved ones, and end up emulating another couple who have distanced themselves from the husband’s family completely.
A source close to the family spoke to the Express, and said that “both Victoria and David were disappointed that it has gotten to this and they can feel a wedge growing between them.”
The insider then likened Brooklyn’s situation to that of Prince Harry, who split from his family and moved to Los Angeles after marrying Meghan Markle. The similarity is said to be on Victoria’s mind, who’s desperate to mend things before they reach such a huge gulf.
“Apparently Victoria has said she doesn’t want this fall out to become like Prince Harry and the royals with their son living in America with his wife while his family stay in the UK,” the source said.
Unfortunately, David’s 50th isn’t the only family occasion Brooklyn has missed, and it seems that it’s becoming a recurring theme for him to opt to stay in with his wife or go to different events.
Brooklyn and Nicola were also absent from Victoria’s catwalk show during Paris Fashion Week this year, while the rest of the family headed to France to support her. Similarly, he and Nicola didn’t publicly share anything to mark Victoria’s 51st birthday last month.
And, much like many pointed the finger at Meghan, the same is now happening with Nicola – with the Beckhams reportedly worried that she’s the person responsible for Brooklyn’s distance.
“They failed to turn up at any family events and yet they will go to a place where they will barely know anyone,” a source told the Daily Mail, adding: “Victoria and David would do anything to get their son back, but they are done with Nicola now.”
After describing how Nicola might argue with Brooklyn to discourage him from talking to his family, the source claimed: “It all stinks of a control thing. The family are absolutely certain this is what happened this time round, that a drama was created and Brooklyn doesn’t feel he can turn up to see his family… He’s a kind boy who clearly doesn’t feel he can stand up to Nicola.”
