A twisted father has confessed to murdering his newborn baby after he raped her whilst they were home alone – he explained that he knew she could die, but didn’t care.

Hugo Ferreira, 37, from Welverdiend, South Africa, brutally killed his daughter, who was just a mere one week old. He sickeningly admitted that he wanted to “give her something to cry about”, so he carried out the heinous crime. He later threatened to kill the baby’s mother.

The Pretoria High Court heard that the victim’s mother, Maureen Brand, had popped out of their home to run some errands when the vile rapist pounced. She returned home to find her baby had endured severe injuries on June 8, 2023.

The innocent newborn was raced to hospital, but sadly died from head injuries after Ferreira “pushed her head against” a surface. He provided a pathetic excuse for the attack and said that he was “unhappy” because Brand had left him with the baby.

Brand left the home to sell clothes and purchase nappies and had reportedly told Ferreira that she would be back in five minutes. But when she took longer, Ferreira became angry as his daughter’s nappy needed changing.

He recalled the horrifying moment when he decided to rape the precious child and said: “I grabbed the baby hard and in the process, I pushed her head against the surface on which I was working.

“I accept that it was a cruel and gruesome attack, especially on such a young baby. The action was clearly illegal and I did it with intent.”

He violently raped her after becoming more frustrated by her cries, reports news24. The twisted paedophile said that he attempted to hide his daughter once her mother had returned.

“When her mother returned, I realised she would see that something was wrong,” he said. “I kept the baby away from her until later the day. I did this because I realised the baby was seriously injured.”

Ferreira admitted that he was aware that what he had done was incomprehensible and knew that his daughter could die. However, he wasn’t ready to stop the attack. He claimed that he had taken methamphetamine, but further explained that it didn’t influence him in his decisions.

He is set to be sentenced next week.
