Gordon Sawers, 46, performed the vile act in front of school children and threatened them with sexual violence on a double decker bus – before branding the incident ‘banter’

A football fan who threatened to “rape and stab” schoolgirls before masturbating in front of them on a bus has been jailed for two years.

Gordon Sawers, 46, branded the vile acts “banter” this week, but previously pleaded guilty to five charges when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in November last year. The Kilmarnock FC superfan shot to fame after sharing foul-mouthed vlogs about the Ayrshire club online, Daily Record reports.

On Tuesday, he accepted a charge of communicating indecently with teenage girls, indecently causing a youth to hear sexual communications and threatening her with sexual violence, along with an offence of public indecency.

Sawers boarded a Stagecoach double decker bus between Kilmarnock and Ardrossan on February 25, 2024. He sat in the rear seats upstairs, where a group of girls came on board and sat close by. Fiscal depute Fraser Alexander told the court Sawers instigated a “sexual conversation” with the schoolchildren, reportedly telling some of them: “I will take you to my house and s*** you” and “I will inject you with heroin.”

Sawers, who is now described as a prisoner at HMP Kilmarnock, said the vlogger made a number of explicit remarks towards two children in the group, with further comments directed towards the youngest. He said he wanted to perform a sexual act on the girl, telling her: “I’m going to rape and stab yous and that”. Mr Alexander explained: “To be clear, it was the accused only that was making any sexual references.”

The court heard Sawers then performed a sex act on himself, with youngsters left “distressed” and “visibly upset”. Another passenger who was travelling on the bus alerted the driver – with the police immediately called. Officers pulled the bus over on Pennyburn Road in the North Ayrshire town where Sawers was arrested before being taken to Saltcoats police office where he was charged and made no reply.

At his sentencing hearing on Monday, January 13, his solicitor Sandy Currie told the court Sawers described his actions as “banter”.

He said: “At the time he had a chaotic lifestyle including drug use, which led to his behaviour and the seriousness of it. I can’t begin to explain or excuse it. He accepts he has very little recollection of what he said and did.” Sheriff Nicola Patrick said: “He appears to have deliberately targeted the young girls. Because of the seriousness of these crimes, a custodial sentence is the only appropriate disposal.”

Sawers was sentenced to two years behind bars and a year in jail for a range of other charges, which will be served concurrently. He was also handed two years on license following his release, meaning any further offending would see him jailed again. He was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, due to the extended sentence handed out.

In 2016, Sawers took to the internet after being kicked out of Rugby Park during a play-off clash to save Kilmarnock’s Premiership status. It left his son, who had earlier won £100 in a half-time draw, in tears in the stands minutes before Killie hit their third goal of the game.
