Terrifying footage captured the moment Vladimir Putin launched a 700-mile nuclear missile from a submarine. He also fired at an underwater target in the Pacific, according to the Kremlin

This is the moment Vladimir Putin stepped up his threats to the world after launching a new 700-mile nuclear missile from a submarine. The nuclear-capable Kalibr missile was dispatched from a sub during the Russian leader’s latest test strike.

The nuclear-powered Krasnoyarsk submarine also fired at an underwater target in the Pacific, according to the Kremlin. The show of naval might – seen on footage – hit a coastal target at the Kura test range in Kamchatka region.

It came as Moscow claimed it was ready for peace talks with Ukraine – while alleging Kyiv was the instance. Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked if Moscow was waiting for a signal on talks to end the war. “From Kyiv at least,” he said. “Kyiv must take some action in this regard. They have a legal ban on negotiations [with Russia]. But so far we do not see any action.”

Asked about Trump’s rap for Putin over the slaughter of civilians from recent Russian missile and drone strikes, along with bombing, he said: “Well, there were such words.

“The [war] is continuing. US efforts, efforts to bring the process into a peaceful direction are continuing. Readiness of the Russian side to start a negotiation process with Ukraine in order to come to a peaceful solution has been repeatedly confirmed. Efforts are continuing. This is all I can say on this subject.”

As he spoke, Russia staged a massive kamikaze drone strike on Ukrainian city Cherkasy – once more defying Trump. Separately, 4 Ukrainians were killed and five more were injured in Kostyantynivka from Russian shelling.

It comes as Putin on Monday declared a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine on May 8-10 to mark the World War II Victory Day, as U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration decides whether a deal to end the more than three-year war is within reach.

The Kremlin said that the truce will start at on May 8 and last through the end of May 10, adding that Putin ordered the full cessation of hostilities on “humanitarian grounds” to mark the May 9 holiday celebrating the defeat of Nazi Germany.

There was no immediate reaction from Ukraine, which has previously agreed to Trump’s proposal of a full 30-day ceasefire.

“Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow this example,” the Kremlin said in a statement. “In case of violations of the ceasefire by the Ukrainian side, the Russian armed forces will give an adequate and efficient response.”

Putin previously announced a unilateral 30-hour Easter ceasefire and Ukraine voiced readiness to reciprocate any genuine truce then, but said the Russian attacks continued. Moscow, in turn, accused Ukraine of failing to halt attacks.

Russia and Ukraine had also earlier pledged to observe a 30-day halt on strikes on energy infrastructure that was brokered by Trump’s administration, but repeatedly accused each other of massive violations until the measure expired.
