Erling Haaland of Manchester City celebrates after scoring the team's first goal during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Knockout Play-off first leg match between Manchester City and Real Madrid C.F. at Manchester City Stadium on February 11, 2025 in Manchester, England.

Manchester City’s first game in the FIFA Club World Cup takes place today as the Blues take on Wydad AC. Pep Guardiola’s side kicks off Group G at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.

The competition is City’s last chance at silverware following a disappointing season that saw them finish third in the Premier League and runners up in the FA Cup. They have since strengthened their squad with four new players who could debut in today’s fixture: Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli.

In his pre-game press conference, Guardiola said the new signings have the quality the club needs for the season to come. He said: “We’re really pleased because they all have huge quality in different positions.

“They bring what we need, and with this incredible amount of games we had at the end of the season, 11 months every three or four days is like this tournament, everyone is going to play. Hopefully, they can help us adapt as quickly as possible.

Man City’s first test in the Club World Cup is against Wydad Athletic Club – also known as Wydad Casablanca – who compete in the top tier of the Moroccan football league. They also finished their latest campaign in third place of the Botola Pro 1, but recently parted ways with coach Rhulani Mokwena after a mixed season.

The FIFA Club World Cup will see 32 of the world’s best club teams including Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich play across 63 games from June 14-July 13.

Fans can watch every match live and for free by signing up to DAZN.

Wydad are the underdogs in a tough group that also includes Italian side Juventus and the United Arab Emirates’ Al Ain. Their opponent last won the Club World Cup in 2023, when City claimed the fifth trophy of their incredible treble-winning season.

Triumph in the USA could salvage City’s lacklustre season, so to follow the action, here’s when Man City vs Wydad AC will kick off and how to watch the game for free.

When is Man City vs Wydad AC

Man City vs Wydad AC is scheduled to kick off at 5pm, with coverage starting an hour earlier at 4pm.

Pep Guardiola, head coach of Manchester City, speaks during the Press Conference ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between Manchester City FC and Wydad AC at Lincoln Financial Field on June 17, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
