Two women who went to Majorca for a clubbing weekend shared how they managed to save money by not booking a hotel room and getting ready in fast food restaurant toilets

Holidays can be a pricey affair, but two clever women may have discovered an ingenious way to save some cash.

We all dream of jetting off to a sun-soaked tropical island for a break, but the harsh reality is that holidays can often be too costly for many. Even if you snag a bargain on your flights, there’s still the hotel, potential car rentals and attraction costs to consider.

There are ways to dodge the hotel expense like carrying a fold-up tent and camping out, but this isn’t always feasible – particularly if your holiday plans involve late-night partying.

But fear not, even if camping isn’t your cup of tea, you can still enjoy a weekend getaway without splashing out on a hotel. All you need is a rental car, access to public toilets, and a dash of creativity.

Two women who recently embarked on a clubbing weekend in Majorca revealed how they kept their expenses low by sleeping in their rental car and using the facilities at a local Burger King to prepare for their night out.

Esther Pinos shared a video on her TikTok account, @estherpinos_, explaining how she and a friend flew from mainland Spain to Majorca and rented a car which they used to store their clothes and provided them with a secure place to sleep after a night of clubbing.

To overcome the lack of toilet facilities in their car, the duo decided to dine at a local Burger King, using the fast food joint’s toilets to freshen up and change. In one segment of Esther’s TikTok video, she is seen straightening her hair using a plug socket conveniently located next to their dining table.

The video caption, translated from Spanish to English, read: “POV: You go to Majorca to party without booking a hotel and use Burger King loos to get ready.”

In the comments section, Esther confirmed they had slept in the vehicle. When asked where they spent the night, she responded: “In the rental car.”

For those curious about the legality of sleeping in a car in Majorca, it’s perfectly legal providing the car itself is parked correctly. The Spanish Directorate General of Traffic states that “while a vehicle is correctly parked, without exceeding the road markings delimiting the parking area, nor the time limitation, it is not relevant if the occupants are inside”.

Opinions were divided among commenters on the video regarding this money-saving hack. Some found the idea of getting dressed in a public toilet “disgusting”, while others suggested alternative cost-cutting methods that didn’t involve a Burger King.

One commenter advised: “I’ll give you a tip. You pay the daily rate of any gym which is 10 euros, and you go in for a shower and come out ready to dance.”

However, another person countered: “How disgusting! Those toilets are always dirty, especially in the afternoon.”
