Interior designer Jade Yarbrough plumped for a $1000 (about £500) Carla Zampatti outfit to see her friends Anthony Bell and Annika Martyn tie-the-knot
A wedding guest’s see-through outfit has reignited a long-standing debate about what people are expected to wear.
Wearing white has traditionally been a no-no but wedding etiquette experts also say it is bad form to wear anything that could distract from the bride. Interior designer Jade Yarbrough opted to throw the etiquette book out the window and plumped for a $1000 (about £500) Carla Zampatti outfit to see her friends Anthony Bell and Annika Martyn tie-the-knot.
Ms Yarbrough’s pale blue gown – which is sold in three pieces, a pair of $99 (£50) “full briefs”, a matching $399 (£200) “mesh bodysuit” and $499 (£250) statement skirt – attracted criticism over its revealing nature. The 33-year-old finished her racy wedding-guest ensemble with a pair of pointed black heels and a mini clutch.
While some online praised her choice as “insane” others called it trashy and inappropriate. On Instagram though, the comments on her post were a lot more complimentary, with many stating she looked “stunning”.“Oh my gosh that outfit! Absolute perfection,” one shared. “Girl this dress,” another agreed.
She is not the first star to ruffle feathers wearing the same blue dress, with former Married at First Sight contestant Jules Robinson wearing it to the 2024 Marie Claire Women of the Year Awards in Sydney.
Jules she felt a “million bucks” in the see-through ensemble as she celebrated the “game-changing and trailblazing women who are driving real change in Australia,” according to news.com.au
The 41-year-old appeared to wear a nude bodysuit under the racy gown in an attempt to make it less revealing. Many said they “loved” the dress when Jules wore it with many leaping to her defence, writing: “I find it so interesting that so many women felt that they could comment their opinions on your dress.”
