This week’s roundup is a mix of fashion, beauty and lifestyle gems to enjoy(Image: Various)

This payday weekend, we’re in full-on autumn shopping mode, adding stunning jackets and cosy home buys to our baskets. With the weather becoming unpredictable, we’re caught between snapping up new-season buys and treating ourselves to some pieces that’ll help us cling to the last of the summer sun.

With the high street awash with so many stunning jackets, many of which are already selling out, we’ve picked two of our favourites that we reckon also won’t be hanging around for long – and they’re both less than £60.

We’re also not quite ready to let go of summer, however, with Jess still clinging on to the last sunny days with Miller Harris’ Scherzo perfume and Lauren itching to try out a new gradual tanning lotion. So, without any further chatter, here’s our must-have payday picks.

Lauren’s picks:

River Island Faux Leather Button Through Jacket – £52

The latest addition to Lauren’s wardrobe is this faux leather piece from River Island (Image: Lauren Codling)

I’ve been on the lookout for a stylish jacket to carry me through the chillier season, and that’s when I discovered a standout piece from River Island that immediately made its way into my wardrobe. This faux leather number is versatile enough to effortlessly pull together an outfit, while still being trendy enough to ensure compliments.

Its glossy finish exudes a cool, street-style vibe, while the smart collar and boxy fit feel sophisticated and contemporary. The colour feels luxurious yet wearable, tapping into the ongoing 70s-inspired trend that’s predicted to rule AW25.

This autumn, I’ll pair it with a crisp white boxy T-shirt, wide-leg jeans, boots, and tinted aviators for a refined off-duty look. For evenings out, I envision it working perfectly over a slip dress with strappy heels for a chic finish. And for casual brunch dates, I’ll pair it with tailored trousers, chunky loafers, and a cosy knit for a relaxed vibe that feels effortlessly coordinated.

If there’s one downside, it’s that faux leather can feel hot and sticky against the skin, making this jacket more suitable for brisk autumn days than summer evenings. As much as I’d love to start wearing it now, I’ll be saving it for when the temperature drops.

SKIN & TAN Body Glow Blush Gradual Everyday Tanning Lotion – £12.99

This lotion helps to hydrate skin whilst gradually building a natural, sun-kissed glow(Image: Boots)

Summer might be slowly coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean I’m ready to say goodbye to my (fake) tan just yet. Skin + Tan has been my saviour this season, and its Gradual Everyday Tanning Lotion is the next product I’m keen to try out.

What sets this formula apart is its peach scent and golden shimmer, leaving behind a sweet smell and subtle radiance before the colour even develops. It’s infused with peach kernel, which explains the fragrance, and guarana extract, a clever addition that helps to hydrate and soothe skin. The result is skin that’s not only bronzed but soft.

As the name suggests, the lotion builds the tan gradually, meaning you won’t wake up in the morning looking dramatically different. Instead, the colour develops softly with each use, making it easier to control the depth of your glow.

That said, I’ll gladly admit that gradual tans come with a small challenge. As the lotion applies clear, it can be easy to miss spots compared to a tinted mousse. The risk of streaks is slightly higher, so I recommend taking your time during application and using a tanning mitt for an even finish.

Laura Mercier Translucent Hydrating Setting Spray – £32

Lauren is a big fan of Laura Mercier’s latest drop(Image: Lauren Codling)

I’ve tried my fair share of setting sprays over the years, and honestly, it’s hard to be impressed. No matter the claims, my makeup still manages to melt away, especially after braving the depths of the London Underground (an actual test of endurance for both me and my foundation).

But Laura Mercier’s new Hydrating Setting Spray has made me rethink my stance. This isn’t just another mist in a pretty bottle – it’s infused with hyaluronic acid, so it not only promises to lock in makeup for up to 24 hours but also provides a gentle hydration boost for the skin along the way.

Granted, I haven’t worn my makeup for a full 24 hours (nor do I want to), but this spray has kept my base looking fresh for the entire day without the usual mid-afternoon touch-up. A quick spritz in the morning, and my tinted moisturiser, blush and bronzer hold their ground. I still have to reapply my liquid eyeliner, but that’s more of a watery eye issue than a spray problem.

Another spray that I like is Fenty Beauty’s You Mist Setting Spray. It claims to render makeup sweat- and water-resistant, and aside from a few exceptionally perspiring nights on the dance floor, it typically delivers. It also incorporates wild thyme extract, providing a revitalising lift.

Boux Avenue Faye Spot Mesh Bodysuit – £48

The Faye Mesh Bodysuit is part of Boux Avenue’s French Kiss collection(Image: Boux Avenue)

Recently, I’ve developed an obsession with lingerie (dating someone new probably has something to do with it), and Boux Avenue has quickly become my go-to for adding a touch of spice. The brand’s latest launch, the French Kiss collection, is all about romance and elegance, with delicate lace, satin details and shades that range from sultry black to soft pink and white.

While the bra-and-knicker sets are always tempting, it’s the Faye Mesh Bodysuit that’s caught my eye. Available in pink and black, it’s both playful and sexy, featuring a sheer dotted mesh finish, lace edging, and satin ribbon caging that lends it a sultry, structured vibe. Plus, it’s not just bedroom-friendly, and can be easily styled with a black bra underneath and a pair of high-waisted jeans.

Boux Avenue isn’t the only brand delivering the goods recently. Bluebella is another favourite of mine, remaining unmatched for lingerie that lasts and looks high-end.

Spa Ceylon Soothing Balm Micro Mist – £11.48

This nifty balm mist works hard to ease stress, headaches and chest congestion(Image: Amazon)

Self-care is essential at the best of times, but there’s something about the colder months – with darker evenings and that creeping sense of winter blues – that makes it even more important. To ease the stress, I’ve been eyeing the Soothing Micro Mist from Spa Ceylon, available on Amazon.

Infused with lemongrass and peppermint, this little pick-me-up doesn’t just bring calmness – it also works to help with headaches, colds, and even chest congestion. The formula is 100% vegetarian, cruelty-free, and free from alcohol, paraffin and silicone, making it a thoughtful addition to any self-care routine.

I usually pick up a new sleep spray around this time of year as well, and Neom is typically my top choice. The bestselling Perfect Night’s Sleep Pillow Mist (£25) features 14 dreamy essential oils, including lavender and chamomile, to encourage a peaceful slumber.

Jessica’s picks:

Dunelm Happy Hour Cushion – £14

Dunelm’s happy hour cushion would add a fun touch to any space

I’m in my home decorating era, and with autumn just around the corner, I’ve got my eye on some cosy touches to add to my space. I love hosting drinks for friends and family, so this fun ‘happy hour’ cushion will add a pop of colour and a little fun to my lounge.

At £14, I think it looks more expensive than its price tag. The rectangle shape makes it ideal for propping on an accent chair, and the tassel detail adds texture and interest. As a dog owner, I appreciate that it’s machine washable, as I have no time for extra cleaning and fuss.

It’s made from 100% cotton, which I appreciate, and the embroidered detailing adds a luxurious finish. I’m also a fan of slightly muted colours, as I tend to opt for neutral, calming tones at home.

The one downside is that I tend to find that anything tasselled never seems to retain its original appearance over time (especially after washing) and can look a little ragged. However, for the price point, it’s a great buy.

Miller Harris Scherzo 14ml -£45

Miller Harris’ fragrances are like none others I’ve tried

There’s no denying that Miller Harris’ scents sit at a luxury price point, but for me, the scent payoff is really strong and lasts for hours. I’ve been known to spray their scents one morning and still be able to smell them on the clothes I took off the next day. I’ve had this Scherzo perfume before and plan to repurchase the travel-sized bottle.

The scent includes notes of peony, oudh, and the sweet note of maltol. Whilst it does have a sweetness about it, it’s not sickly, and Miller Harris perfumes all have a depth that I’ven’t found with many other brands before. No scent smells similar to anything else I’ve tried, and that’s what I love about them.

While their scents are undoubtedly a splurge, the brand does offer sample sizes in some fragrances, allowing them to be tried at home before committing to a full-sized bottle. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a signature scent that isn’t worn by many others.

The downside for me is the price point. Although the fragrances have a uniqueness that warrants their price tag, it’s definitely a significant investment for a scent.

Jellycat Amuseables Pain Au Chocolat – £20

Jellycat’s Pain Au Chocolat would make a cute gift

I know there are plenty of Jellycat collectors out there, but I’ve been looking at the brand’s cute stuffed toys as potential gifts. I have a few friends expecting babies soon, and this little Pain Au Chocolat plush would make a fun gift to display in a nursery.

As a brunch lover, breakfast-themed items have my heart, and I love that this Pain Au Chocolat puts a unique twist on a classic teddy gift. The brand also does a super sweet croissant that I’ve got my eye on, too. At £20, it’s not cheap, but it feels like a special gift that a child can keep as they grow.

The one downside is that the toy is small for the price, with dimensions of 9cm x 15cm x 9cm. That being said, looking at the fun little smiley face, I’d be tempted to keep one for myself!

Regatta Valenta Waterproof Jacket – £35 from £70

Regatta Great Outdoors is currently offering a range of durable and stylish kid’s coats, jackets and fleeces(Image: Regatta)

Speaking of friends with children, some of mine are currently on the lookout for new back-to-school jackets to send their kids to the school gates in style. With that in mind, I’ve been recommending Regatta’s new range; many cool, waterproof styles are on sale right now, making it a great time to shop.

The Valenta Hiking Jacket (reduced to £35 from £70) with its 180gsm insulation is one of the warmest options available. It’s not only waterproof but also breathable, featuring a sherpa-lined hood and adjustable waist and cuffs for a comfortable fit.

Although colour options are restricted to burgundy, turquoise, and navy blue, its sleek design gives it a smart appearance. The tapered sleeves ensure full waterproof protection, even on the wettest of days.

Mango Leather-Effect Jacket with pockets – £59.99

I tried on the Mango jacket in store and fell in love

I tried on this gorgeous Mango jacket in store last week and immediately fell in love. I’m currently due a clear-out on my jackets so I held off until it’s done but it’s still sitting firmly on my wishlist. With it’s slightly cropped length and realistic-looking faux leather material, it will go with so much in my autumn wardrobe.

I’m planning to team it with jeans, a tee, and loafers soon, and then as the weather gets colder I’ll layer it up with a light knit, some wide leg high-waisted trousers and boots. I’d also team it with a satin slip skirt and mesh ballet flats for a look that is chic for daytime but works equally well into the evening.

The one drawback is that it comes up very small, I’m normally a medium and had to size up two sizes to get my desired slightly oversized fit. That being said, the jacket is super versatile, and I think it easily dresses up casual outfits and keeps dressier evening looks elevated when you need something to ward off the cold.

The White Company Autumn Home Spray – £18

The White Company autumn spray

In my opinion, no-one does home fragrance quite like The White Company. In the summer I opt for their Seychelles room spray, but now the new season is upon us I’m looking for a warmer, cosier scent. Enter the Autumn Home Spray. This room spray features notes of pear, quince, and Amber and makes homes smell like a luxury hotel.

At £18, the room sprays are pricey, but they’re not your bog-standard air fresheners. They smell exactly like perfumes and the scents definitely look luxury in their minimalist glass bottles. For me, they also make a really great gift, as they’re something people may not think to treat themselves to.

My one downside of The White Company sprays is that the scents don’t linger as long as I’d like, so I often layer them up by using the same fragrance oil in a diffuser to get more longevity.
