The remainder of the week, post Bank Holiday, is always a difficult one; your mind and body doesn’t quite know what day it is and your still in a bit of a long-weekend daze. Thankfully, Friday is here and to celebrate a consecutive period of relaxation after a busy work week, many of us will most like indulge in a little bit of retail therapy.
Rather than hitting the shops first things on a Saturday morning, doing it from the comfort of your own home, brew in hand and PJs on, is much more appealing and a favourite pastime of ours.
And this week, there’s a lot of goodies we have been eyeing up that, come Saturday morning, are going straight in our basket; from viral M&S dresses and must-have sandals to celebrity-approved make-up (anyone else still in awe from the Met Gala?).

Influencer-loved M&S dress back for 2024
Last year, everywhere we looked from Instagram to TikTok, this Marks and Spencer striped knitted maxi dress was everywhere and it sold out almost immediately. Now, it’s back for 2024 in two brand new colourways, and we don’t want to jinx anything, but it’s currently available in all sizes from extra-small to extra-large.
The £35 Cotton Rich Striped Knitted Midi Dress was a total hit with fashion fans when it first launched at M&S last summer in its sage and cream shades, and is now available in mocha and black blends. Made from a cotton-rich material, the affordable high street dress features a crew neck and sleeveless design for a lightweight and airy feel.
It falls to a flattering midi length with a side slit, while the regular fit and nature of the fabric is quite forgiving and not at all clingy. You’d also be forgiven for thinking it might be a little bit transparent, but it’s not at all – I just advice wearing neutral underwear over anything bright or patterned.
Knitted and crochet dresses are set to be a major trend once again this summer, and this M&S piece is bound to sell out again ahead of the sunnier days. It was like gold dust to get your hands on last year, so we recommend snapping it up early if you want to add it to your warm-weather wardrobe.
New Look’s affordable summer sandals
It’s finally sandal weather, and with another Bank Holiday on the horizon this month, when better to buy a new pair? We love Dr Martens fisherman sandals, which are on sale for £79, but if you’re looking for something a little more affordable, New Look’s £30 sandals have been hailed as a must-have for your summer wardrobe by shoppers.
The Wide Fit Black Leather-Look Fisherman Sandals have been lauded by fans who say they “never rub”, even when worn for the first time. With their chunky design and wide leather straps, these holiday essentials are said to have a “Dr Martens style look about them without the price tag”.

Amanda Holden’s golden goddess River Island dress
Summer weddings are on the horizon and Amanda Holden has, this week, given us some serious outfit inspiration with a gorgeous golden dress from River Island. Costing £70, the maxi dress is the ultimate party piece for wedding guests who want to channel their inner boho queen whilst embracing a bit of glitter.
With a flattering halterneck bodice and tiered maxi skirt that floats elegantly to the ground, the dress is still available in all sizes – six to 18 – and is super pretty with a floral print design.
The 53-year-old was spotted in the dress whilst on holiday in the south of Spain with pal and Alan & Amanda’s Italian Job co-host Alan Carr and she paired the look with some glamorous, large sunglasses and a gold bracelet to let the dress do all the talking. We are absolutely buzzing for the sun to have finally made an appearance this week following the first May Bank Holiday. And with warmer weather on the horizon, we’re all yearning for some light, summer-worthy clothes, such as these stunning denim pleat front belted shorts from M&S.
Available in sizes six to 24 and in shades ecru, medium and light indigo, the shorts are incredibly flattering thanks to its front pleats and paperbag shape that glide over the thighs.

When one of your favourite lip balm brands releases a new flavour of its lip oil that has been inspired by one of Britain’s biggest icons, Percy Pig, it needs to immediately be added to your shopping basket.

Josie Gibson’s River Island co-ord
Bringing all the 90s vibes to the This Morning sofa this Bank Holiday Monday was the lovely Josie Gibson, who had us scrambling to find her latest outfit that was perfect for the spring season.
The presenter, who was styled by Rachael Hughes, was flooded with compliments as she stunned in a black mesh floral long sleeve top and skirt combo from River Island – which costs less than £60.
The mum-of-one wore the Black Mesh Floral Long Sleeve Top, which comes in at £28, alongside the £30 Black Floral Mesh Maxi Skirt, which can be worn together for a striking head to toe look that gives the illusion of a dress. Alternatively, both items can be worn separately to get more outfits from them, for example, the skirt would look great paired with a black or grey blazer, while the top could be styled with jeans for something a bit more laid back.
