With Christmas just around the corner, people may be worried about piling on the pounds over the festive season, but a fitness expert has shared two simple tricks to help you lose weight
Christmas is often synonymous with joy and indulgence, but that doesn’t mean you have to accept the extra weight as a festive inevitability.
While we all tend to overindulge during the holiday season, it’s not a given that our waistlines must bear the brunt of every mince pie and mulled wine. Fear not if the thought of gaining weight this Christmas is already haunting you, as there’s still time to lose over a stone by embracing two straightforward lifestyle tweaks.
TikTok’s fitness sensation Tyson Aaron, who goes by the handle tyson_aaronpt, has claimed that anyone can drop between 5kg (11lbs) and 10kg (22lbs) before the big day by making a couple of easy changes. His secret? A daily step goal and a commitment to high-protein meals.
The exercise expert insists that these two minor adjustments are all it takes to slim down. Sometimes, it’s the most uncomplicated strategies that deliver the best results.
In a recent TikTok video, he explained: “If you want to lose 5kg to 10kg between now and Christmas, this is everything you are going to do and follow. At a minimum, you are going to get 8,000 steps every single day, but ideally you are going to be getting over 10,000.
“So on days that you have time, and on days you are available to do so, get more than 10. On days that are busy, and on days that are stressful, aim for eight at least.
“You’re also going to eat three meals every single day. Your first meal is either going to be a protein shake with two scoops of protein, or you’re going to create a smoothie with two scoops of protein, and your choice of fruit blended in.”
Tyson emphasised the importance of enjoying the other two meals but with a catch – each meal should contain at least 35g of protein, ideally more than 50g. He confidently stated that if these two simple steps are followed consistently, the weight should fall off.
By Christmas, one could expect to look leaner and feel fitter without resorting to extreme measures. The video has since garnered hundreds of views, with many viewers expressing their eagerness to try out Tyson’s straightforward advice.
One viewer commented: “Ok, done. I’m doing Pilate too though, and I’m coming back on December 20 to let you know how I did.” Another queried: “What’s a decent brand of protein? There’s so many.”
A third viewer asked about carbohydrates and fats, to which Tyson responded that, if protein intake is prioritised, there’s no need to worry excessively about the other nutrients.
