Tributes have poured in for a car crash victim who has been identified as a mother from Westcliff. The woman was hit whilst walking with her child on a pavement

A mother has tragically died after a car suddenly mounted onto a pavement and hit her and her child.

The devastating crash is said to have taken place in St John’s Road in Westcliff last night. According to local councillors, the car was “speeding” at the time of the accident.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and took the parent to hospital. Despite their best efforts, she sadly passed away. Milton Labour shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook and paid tribute.

They wrote: “On behalf of the Milton Councillors, it is with deep sadness that we have heard this morning that a speeding car mounted the pavement and hit a mother and child in St John’s Road in Westcliff last night. Tragically the mother passed away in hospital. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time. This tragic accident could have been avoided and was due to speeding.”

A community meeting is set to take place this weekend following the tragedy. The post continued: “Cllr Nevin is calling a meeting on Saturday morning, 14th December with local residents and the Milton Councillors at the Haven Hub in Hamlet Court Road. Time to be advised later.”

Tributes have since been left on social media from community members. One person wrote: “Devastating news. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.” Another user said: “Such tragic news to share. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.” A third person said: “Oh my goodness, this is horrific. My sincere condolences to this family.”
