Kim Turnbull was first linked to Romeo Beckham last summer, and her new romance has caused huge tension for the Beckham family thanks to a rumoured past fling with Brooklyn
The Beckhams are known for being one of the most tight-knit families in showbiz, but that seems to have changed. David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations might have confirmed a rift in the pack, and sources say it could all be down to newcomer Kim Turnbull.
David celebrated his big milestone at the fancy Core restaurant in London, and it was attended by stars including Guy Ritchie, Eva Longoria and Gordon Ramsay. And, of course, his family all turned up – bar Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham.
Kim, 24, was there as the girlfriend of Romeo Beckham, 22, and is said to be the reason behind Brooklyn’s absence, with the brothers reportedly no longer on speaking terms due to the relationship, despite her closeness with the rest of the family. But who is Kim, and why has her appearance put such a spanner in the works for David, Victoria, and their four children?

Kim herself is no stranger to fame, and comes from a very affluent background. Romeo’s girlfriend is the granddaughter of renowned post-war sculptor and painter William Turnbull, while her father Johnny Turnbull and uncle Alex Turnbull were part of the post-punk band 23 Skidoo, formed in 1979.
The Turnbull creative skills seem to have been passed on to Kim, who primarily works as a model and DJ. Being a DJ has a link to her dad beyond his punk past, as he’s also the founder of UK hip hop label Ronin Records and boasts plenty of connections in the music industry.
Kim also has a similarly glamorous social life to her Beckham boyfriend, having collaborated with several fashion brands, including Tommy Hilfiger, and spends her free time attending exclusive events with other stars.
However, long before she was with Romeo, Kim was known for her closeness with Brooklyn – with many sources saying they had their own romantic relationship.
In their late teens, Kim formed a close trio with Brooklyn and Madonna’s son Rocco Ritchie, whom she befriended soon after he moved to London. Aside from spending time as a group, Brooklyn and Kim also spent lots of time as a duo and were pictured enjoying lunch together in 2016, with many sources claiming that they were dating.
In 2017 – the year after she was rumoured to be linked to Brooklyn – Kim then started dating Rocco, but Brooklyn didn’t end the friendship and was often seen happily third-wheeling them.
The family remains firm in dispelling rumours that Brooklyn dated Kim, and Cruz Beckham recently weighed in on the discussion. In a now deleted post, a fan wrote in response to a photo of Kim and Romeo: “It’s appropriate to date your brother’s ex too? Cool.” Before the post disappeared, Cruz reportedly stated: “Brooklyn and Kim never dated.”
Years later, sources have told TMZ that Romeo’s relationship with Kim is playing its part in the siblings falling out considering Brooklyn’s own history with her. Concerning the rumoured past romance, a source assured that “that’s all water under the bridge” considering Brooklyn is happily married to Nicola, but that “the issue at hand is the couple questions whether Kim has the right intentions in dating Romeo”.
Now, the outlet reports that Brooklyn has told his family that he will not attend any family events that Kim is also invited to. Considering Kim was at David’s birthday, Brooklyn is now said to be feeling left out and feels his family have chosen to side against him. A source close to Brooklyn told The Sun: “He flew to London with the sole intention of seeing his family and celebrating his dad’s birthday.
“He suggested going for breakfast or a coffee but was told the only chance to see the family would be at one of their lavish parties which Kim would likely be at, so he refused. As far as he sees it, his parents have chosen Romeo and his new girlfriend over him.”
