Former BBC host Jermaine Jenas has been out of the limelight since being dismissed by the broadcaster but was on duty for Arsenal vs Liverpool on Sunday afternoon

Jermaine Jenas was back on Premier League duty on Sunday, two months after being sacked by the BBC

Jenas, who had previously been touted as a potential future Match of the Day host, was let go after the Beeb received a behaviour complaint over the former England midfielder. The 41-year-old, who had also hosted The One Show, was dismissed due to his “workplace conduct”, according to BBC News reports in August.

He started a role with talkSPORT when news of his BBC exit broke. Later, though, the radio station indicated there were no plans for him to continue presenting following that appearance.

Jenas has been absent from TV coverage in recent months, with TNT Sports – where he worked as a co-commentator for the opening week of Premier League fixtures – using other analysts in subsequent broadcasts. On Sunday, though, he made a return as Arsenal faced Liverpool in an afternoon kick-off.

According to The Telegraph, Jenas was at the Emirates Stadium to work on the match for Astro. The Malaysian broadcaster holds Premier League rights in the Asian country, and Jenas was spotted speaking to host Adam Carruthers.

Former Arsenal midfielder appeared to confirm the news on social media. “Arsenal v Liverpool with @stadium.astro and the boys,” was the caption on an Instagram post from Lansbury in which he was pictured with Carruthers and Jenas on the Emirates Stadium pitch.

Astro launched its dedicated Premier League channel earlier in October. It is described as a “Dedicated 24/7 channel for all Premier League content, from live matches, repeats, previews, highlights and magazine shows”.

In August, Jenas admitted sending “inappropriate” text messages but insisted none of his actions were illegal. “I am ashamed, and I am deeply sorry. I have let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down,” he said.

“I owe everyone an apology especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry. I am sorry for what I have put them through. I think it would be fair to say I have a problem,” Jenas added.

“I know I self-sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationship especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help.”

“I have made a lot of mistakes, and I am asking myself a lot of questions at the moment. I know there’s a lot of work that needs to be done, and it will be hard.”
