EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier has recently become devoted to the Hare Krishna movement, which sources believe stems from family tensions and his longing for happiness after a difficult childhood.

Bobby has been increasingly open about his devotion to the religion, which follows a branch of Hinduism. He has recently been sharing posts on social media about how it has transformed his outlook on life.

He explained that through his relationship with God, he had finally found what he had been searching for following the emotional difficulties he has faced since his mother Jade Goody died when he was only five years old.

According to The Sun, Bobby is planning to relocate to India to embark on a spiritual journey in India for a year after he exits EastEnders later this year.

A source told the paper: “Bobby is really excited and happy about his move to India. He’s been telling everyone about it and preaching to them about why he is devoted to Hare Krishna.

“He’s such a nice young man, his heart is in the right place, but some people are surprised that he’s walking away from his career at a time when he’s on such a high with it. He says he expects to be over there for a long while, at least a year, so maybe he will pick up on his career eventually when he’s back.”

The move comes amid reports of tension within his family. The Daily Mail recently revealed that Bobby turned to the organisation after his relationship with his father, Jeff Brazier, and brother Freddy became strained.

He later moved from his father’s Essex home to his own apartment in Soho, which is just a short walk from the Hare Krishna temple.

A family source said: “Bobby’s always had a spiritual side, but this is intentional. It’s clear he’s trying to leave all the fighting and noise behind.

“Freddy’s rebellion is loud – drugs, public slanging matches and legal battles about his nana – while Bobby’s is quiet. But actually it’s just as defiant. He’s turning his back on the life his Dad created for them in Essex and following his own path.”

Since immersing himself in the movement, Bobby has been spotted at the London temple, chanting mantras, helping prepare communal meals, and embracing the group’s peaceful teachings.

Devotees insist his commitment is genuine. One volunteer told The Sun: “He’s here every Saturday without fail, he joins our kitchen session, learns the prayers – this isn’t a gimmick.”

Bobby himself has described how the practice has brought him inner peace. In an Instagram video, he said: “What I feel like I’m saying is that I know where happiness is and I know where happiness is not.

“And my relationship with God is absolutely everything that I’m looking for and always have been looking for and always will be looking for. That’s where it lies and nowhere else.”

The Mirror has contacted Bobby Brazier’s manager for comment.
