Manchester United are aiming to build on their last-minute win over Southampton with a victory over Brighton, who are also hoping to take all three points back after their triumph at Ipswich

Manchester United are looking to kick on from a last-minute win over Southampton as they welcome Brighton to Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim’s side were minutes away from another embarrassing defeat on Thursday, after a Manuel Ugarte own goal handed Southampton the lead until the 82nd minute of the game. Thanks to a dazzling 12-minute hat-trick from Amad, United secured the three points and moved up to 12th on Thursday night in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils have had a mixed start under new boss Amorim, with wins against Manchester City and Everton highlighting an otherwise torrid campaign. The United squad will be determined to put things right and turn Old Trafford into a fortress again, but fans will be hoping for a more comprehensive win than last week.

Meanwhile, Brighton continued their six-game streak without a loss after they defeated Ipswich Town on Thursday, with second-half goals from Karou Mitoma and Georginio Rutter. This puts the Seagulls well in the hunt for a European spot in the table.

Brighton have been quietly climbing under Fabian Hürzeler, after the German became the youngest permanent head coach in the league back in June 2024. Wins against City, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have spurred their charge for Europe, but a win over United could allow them to climb further up the table before a difficult away game at Nottingham Forest.

This means both teams will be desperate to secure the victory today (January 19), as the build-up begins for one of four games taking place across the Premier League.

Here, Mirror Football have shared all the details on United vs Brighton, including the kick-off time, where it will be held and if it will be on television.

Will Manchester United vs Brighton be on television in the UK?

Manchester United vs Brighton is scheduled for a 2pm kick-off time on Sunday, January 19, and will take place at Old Trafford. The fixture has not been chosen to be shown live in the UK (along with Nottingham Forest’s game at home to Southampton at the same time), after both teams were in action on Thursday on TNT Sports.

Instead, the Sky Sports slots for Sunday have been confirmed for Everton vs Tottenham (also 2pm) and Ipswich hosting Manchester City, and the latter fixture will kick off on the broadcaster’s channel at 4:30pm. There is no live stream for United’s game online either for fans in the UK.

TNT’s chosen match for the weekend came yesterday in the form of Newcastle vs Bournemouth – but United and Brighton couldn’t have that slot due to playing on Thursday and needing an extended break between fixtures.

From next season, however, all games on Sundays at 2pm will be able to be shown as part of the new broadcasting agreement.

How can fans watch the action from Old Trafford?

Sky Sports’ YouTube channel will provide short highlights of the United vs Brighton clash around 20 minutes after the final whistle, though.

And supporters will be able to watch further highlights from the game for free when Match of the Day 2 airs at 10:30pm on BBC One this evening. BBC Sport will also follow the game live and provide text updates on its website as the fixture takes place.

Sky Sports’ Premier League channel will also show 30-minute highlight shows of each match from Sunday later tonight.

Manchester United and Brighton head-to-head results

In their history so far, there have been five draws, eight wins for Brighton and a whopping 21 wins for United. Most recently, Brighton took the win against United at home, after a 95th-minute winner from Joao Pedro secured the three points on August 24, 2024.

Ex-Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck kicked off the scoring during this game, striking in the 32nd minute before Amad hit back in the second half with a 60th-minute goal. Pedro wrapped up the three points with a last-gasp winner, and United will be looking to avoid this disappointment at home today.
