Manchester United are set to return to Premier League action this Saturday, as they head to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford. After a sluggish start to the 2025/26 season, the Red Devils will be hoping their recent victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford signals a change in fortune.

Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro found the back of the net after Robert Sanchez was given his marching orders early in the match. Ruben Amorim’s squad will be making the journey to London for the weekend’s early kick-off, with their sights set on securing their first win at Brentford since January 2022.

Those tuning in or attending the match will notice a slight change in United’s appearance. For the first time this season, United will be donning their black third kit. Up until now, they’ve sported their red home shirt in all six competitive matches, with the white away kit only making an appearance during pre-season.

The third kit, with its black base, features yellow and blue accents, paying homage to the away kit worn from 1993 to 1995.

However, for the Brentford match, United will be sporting a unique kit to adhere to regulations regarding kit clashes.

Typically, the kit would consist of black shirts and shorts to match.

But due to Brentford’s black shorts and socks, the Reds will be pulling on yellow socks for this particular match.

Arsenal had to make a similar kit adjustment last week when they faced Athletic Club in the Champions League.

The Gunners’ away strip, which is predominantly dark blue and black, including the shorts and socks, clashed with Athletic’s home kit, forcing them to switch to white shorts and socks.

The Premier League regulations stipulate that “when playing in league matches the players of each participating club shall wear a strip which is of a sufficient contrast that match officials, spectators and television viewers will be able to distinguish clearly between the two teams.”
