A husband has taken to social media for advice after revealing his wife wants to give their unborn twins the same name.

Naming a child is a big and often difficult decision, but adding another baby to the mix makes it even harder. While a lot parents of twins, triplets, or any other any other type of multiple birth, choose to give their children different names completely, others might choose to opt for similar sounding or matching names.

While there’s no right or wrong way of doing thing, one man has taken to Reddit to share their feelings after finding out that their wife, who is currently pregnant with twins, want to name the two babies the same name.

They took to the ‘Tragediegh’ forum on Reddit, which is focused specifically to highlight parents who choose unique or made-up names for their children, to share their dilemma.

He shared: “My wife is seven month pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. She’s always been pretty old school when it comes to names, think John and Mary kind of vibes.”

The man went on to explain that their wife had come home from her job excited one day as she said she’d come up with a ‘the perfect name’ for the twins.

“Singular. Not plural,” the Reddit user clarified before revealing: “She wants to call our children Chegleigh. Both of them. Cheggs for the boy and Leigh for the girl, Chegleigh on both their birth certificates.”

They went on to explain that their reaction to hearing the name was to laugh, thinking it was a joke. However it turned out the mother-to-be was serious with the name suggestion and is not refusing to talk to her partner.

“I will not allow my son to be named Cheggs Bennington,” they said.

People were quick to take to the comments to share their thoughts, with many having noticed how similar ‘Cheggs’ sounds to ‘eggs’ and took the opportunity to make some jokes about the situation.

One person jokingly suggested: “Change your last name while you’re at it. Don’t deny your son the ability to call himself Cheggs Overeasy.” Another person added: “What about Chegg as the middle name? Call him Scott. Scott Chegg.”

However, several people argued that there was no way the post was real, as they claimed it sounded ‘too fake’. However one person argued: “People say it’s fake but… hormones are wild man.” Another added: “I hope this is fake. Please do not name your baby Cheggs.”

Meanwhile, someone else said: “I am so glad that my country does not allow you to just name anything for your kids… People believe in common sense, but it is actually laws that keep common sense in check…”
