Tensions between fans and Vitor Pereira were high as Wolves suffered a 3-2 loss to Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday, leaving the club rock bottom with no wins from their opening nine

Vitor Pereira was held back by stewards as he was confronted by enraged Wolves fans on Sunday afternoon. It came after the side suffered a 3-2 loss to Burnley at home in the Premier League.

Zian Flemming opened the scoring for the Clarets at Molineux just 14 minutes into the game, before bagging a brace for the afternoon moments later. While Jorgen Strand Larsen and Marshall Munetsi guaranteed that the hosts headed into half time all level, the second-half spelled disaster for Wolves.

As the side looked to clinch at least a point from the encounter, Lyle Foster had other plans. Deep into stoppage time, the centre-forward burst through the Wolves backline to meet Hannibal’s precise pass, before tucking it past Sam Johnstone with ease.

In a showing of solidarity with the fans, Wolves players approached the stands after the full time whistle – only to be met with jeers and chants of: “We want Fosun out,” referring to the Chinese conglomerate who acquired the Midlands club for £45 million in 2016.

And things took a particularly cagey turn with Pereira approached fans, seen having an animated argument with certain members of the crowd as thick boos started to ring out around him. He was then ushered away by stewards and members of his team.

Speaking about the fans after the match during an interview with Sky Sports, Pereira said: “I understand the frustration of the supporters, but if it’s a game where we, the players, didn’t work hard to get the result, okay, I understand.

It comes as Wolves have had a devastating start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign. The club currently sit rock bottom of the league standings with just two points from their opening nine fixtures, with no wins, two draws and seven losses to their name.

For context, that’s two points shy of a similarly struggling West Ham, who occupy 19th place, three away from Nottingham Forest in 18th, and six points from safety.
