Jessica Waite has written about her husband’s sordid secrets she only discovered after his death, revealing she consumed some of his ashes out of “despair and guilt”

A woman who discovered her husband’s double life of sleeping with escorts and having several affairs after his death ate his ashes out of “despair and guilt”.

Jessica Waite’s husband Sean died on a work trip in 2015 to Texas, US. Devastated, she used his iPad to look up the phone number of the hospital holding his body. But when she opened the device she was shocked as the browsing history showed him looking up high class escorts.

Over the coming months she found out he lied to her about working late, when instead he was downloading vile pornographic videos. He also had an apartment in Colorado, where he met strangers for sex. Incensed, she cut open the bag containing Sean’s ashes and mixed some in dog poo.

Not content, she ate some as well, she wrote in her book A Widow’s Guide to Dead Bastards, New York Post reported. She wrote: “I’ve desecrated the remains of my partner in life. In despair and guilt, took more of his ashes and actually ate them.

“The remains feel dry against my fingertips, coarser than baking powder, grainier than salt. They mix with the teary water, a mineral mud on the back of my tongue. I swallow. I feel better and stronger than before, but I still cry almost every day, and I still feel like a part of me has died. Because the part of me that existed within Sean did.”

The author has since gone on to find a new partner. The blurb for the book reads: “A widow’s life is turned upside down when she uncovers the truth about her late husband in this lyrical, witty, and deeply moving memoir of tragedy and betrayal. In the midst of mourning her husband’s sudden death, writer Jessica Waite discovered shocking secrets that undermined everything she thought she knew about the man she’d loved and trusted.

“From uncovered affairs to drug use and a pornography addiction, Waite was overwhelmed reconciling this devastating information with her new reality as a widowed single mom. Then, to further complicate matters, strange, inexplicable coincidences forced her to consider whether her husband was reaching back from beyond the grave.”
