A woman shared her horror after visiting her GP for ear wax removal, only for the doctor to discover something disgusting that was pressed up against her eardrum

If you’re experiencing a sensation of blocked ears, it’s advisable to seek medical advice.

Clogged ears are usually not a serious issue and often result from a buildup of earwax. While this can be uncomfortable and impact your hearing, the problem is typically resolved by removing the excess wax. This can be done at home using olive oil drops or with the assistance of a pharmacist who can suggest earwax-dissolving medications.

In more severe instances, a nurse at a GP surgery may employ stronger treatments such as water flushing or suction. However, one woman’s experience has gone viral, serving as a cautionary tale about the potentially revolting findings during a doctor’s examination.

In a TikTok video, Karrah revealed that she sought medical help due to her ears feeling blocked. The doctor first examined the ear that wasn’t causing hearing problems and started “digging around” after spotting earwax.

He extracted a “massive black mass of ear wax” from the supposedly healthy ear, leaving Karrah worried about the condition of her other ear, which she believed was in a worse state.

She narrated her experience: “He moves onto the next one, and he’s like, ‘Okay, there’s more ear wax on this. It’s actually cemented on the ear drum so this will take a minute’. So that does take a minute, and it’s very painful. He pulls that out, just equally as gross but more painful, and then he goes, ‘No way’.

Already unnerved by her doctor’s reaction, Karrah was preparing for the worst. The health professional then informed her she “wouldn’t believe” what he had discovered in her ear.

She went on: “I’m dying inside thinking it’s a bug. He brings out tweezers and … it was so painful. He’s like pulling really hard, and it’s right on my ear drum. Massive clump of dog hair. He said it looked like someone had put dog hair in my ear and then just stuffed it down the canal. I can’t.”

In her social media update, Karrah warned others to check their ears for any unwelcome guests. The post quickly resonated with others as commenters shared similar disturbing tales.

One revealed, “I was having severe symptoms of vertigo and migraines. They ran all the tests on me. One year later, the flat back of an earring slid down my canal and popped out. Felt the whole thing.”

Another shared a chilling coincidence: “This happened to me, and the doctor was like, ‘Do you have a white dog? ‘ My white dog had passed a year before, but she was still with me.”
