A woman named Kylie, who goes by englandandeverywhere on TikTok, recently visited Turkey for a holiday in the sun – but woke up to find something very different

When jetting off on holiday, we all dream of sun-soaked beaches and utter relaxation, maybe with a cheeky cocktail in hand.

But, for one globetrotter, Turkey’s usually reliable rays gave way to an unexpected twist. Kylie, known as TikTok’s @englandandeverywhere, is more than familiar with the ins and outs of thrifty travel as her tips are a hit among bargain hunters.

However, even she was taken aback when she found herself waking up to not just a rainy day, but a rain-drenched hotel room during her latest Turkish adventure. Sharing her soggy circumstance online, Kylie’s video captured sheets drenched in water from the floor of her hotel room.

With over 24,000 views, her followers chimed in, equally stunned at the turn of the Turkish weather in September.

A fellow tourist reminisced: “We were at Daisy Beach when it started. Danced on the tables and chairs. It cooled us down as it was still 28. Got back to the hotel and they told us to change. If not, we would get sick.”

While another championed the stormy surprise, writing: “Love it. Nothing better than sitting watching the rain and storms on holiday.” And to reassure the sun hadn’t abandoned Turkey completely, someone commented from the scene, writing: “It rained Tuesday during the night. I’m here just now – it’s roasting and sunny.”

Kylie’s holiday in Turkey took a damp turn when it rained enough to “flood her hotel room”, despite the downpour being brief. However, her subsequent videos showcased the country’s sunnier moments and stunning views.

In her travel vlogs, Kylie flaunted the best of Turkey – from the breathtaking landscapes to savvy dining on a budget. She also shared her experience with the 100 Lira challenge, demonstrating how far £2.25 could stretch at a local supermarket.

Her shopping spree included Pepsi, cherry juice, baklava, apples, sesame seed crackers and noodles quite the bargain, though some followers remarked that prices seem to have risen recently.

Comments on her videos reflected surprise and nostalgia, with one viewer exclaiming: “How you do that? I couldn’t even get a pack of baby wipes for less than 600 lira in Antalya let alone a chocolate bar.” Another chimed in with: “100 Lira was £5 in 2022.”
