A fan of cleaning ace Mrs Hinch has raved over a cheap hack to transform the grimiest of oven doors and hobs in less than half an hour. Plus, the genius hack will only set you back 8p

Mrs Hinch fans have discovered a cheap and cheerful hack to bring your dingey oven door back to life.

Our ovens and hobs can quickly become coated in grease and bits of food, which not only looks grim but can also damage its efficiency. Plus, let’s face it, guests are hardly going to have an appetite after seeing an oven coaxed in dirt.

But if you’ve been scrubbing your oven for hours with expensive cleaners and still can’t tell the difference, do not worry. An unusual item that you probably already have lying around in your kitchen might just do the trick…

Last year, one woman took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group to write: “So I did it! I bought the cheapest dishwasher tablets I could find (Morrison’s own make) and cleaned my entire oven and hob with them, took less than 30 minutes to do the whole thing.

“I had tried elbow grease spray, pink stuff, Cif oven cleaner, and others alike before. Nothing cleaned the oven door, I couldn’t see through it. Now it’s almost like new, the whole oven and hob and door. Thank you to this page.

“Also, please remember to wear gloves when doing this as you don’t want prolonged contact with skin from the dishwasher tablets”, the Express reports. Eager to know more about the cleaning tips, other Mrs Hinch fans asked for more information, with one writing: “Did you just go over everywhere with just the tablet or do you do something with the tablet?”

The original poster then detailed her method, commenting: “I just sprayed hot water inside and on the door and on hob then scrubbed around with the dishwasher tablets. I used the tablets then wiped all over with a clean wet sponge to essentially rinse it off then wiped all around with kitchen towel.”

She also reiterated that it was “no effort.” Dishwasher tablets can be bought for as little as £3.09 from Tesco for a pack of 40. This works out less than 8p per clean!
