A woman has come up an easy trick to filter your job application search so you apply for roles with a better chance of getting a call back – job hunters say it works

Job hunting can be a soul-destroying experience, but one woman has come up with a genius way to make an employer want to call you back after a job application.

If you’ve been job hunting for a while, you know the pain of going through endless job applications, and interviews, only to hear nothing back from an employer or met with ‘thank you for your application’ emails. New job processes can be demoralising but you often have to stick it out if you want to land a role.

Marni, who believes in manifestation and likes to share her life hacks online, says that if you “don’t have nepotism or a network” your best tool when it comes to job applications is time. The American woman explained that there is a “very specific Google search” she uses to ensure she applies for a new job role within 24 hours of it being posted.

Marni says she believes that applying for a job role when it has been newly advertised gives you a “better chance of a callback”. The 28-year-old demonstrated in a video on her TikTok page @ohmarni how she is able to search so that she only sees jobs which have been recently posted.

Marni added: “You can search specific dates and you can search the last 24 hours. I would basically do this every day to see what the new jobs are, then apply. Jobs could literally get hundreds of applications in a single day, so you want to make sure you’re a part of that first batch.”

Marni’s advice video has been viewed more than a million times, and a number of people who are on the job hunt shared their thoughts. One individual said: “I never apply to jobs more than 30 days old. definitely agree to apply as soon as you can.”

“Adding this to my job hunt experiment,” added another. One other wrote: “In London you have you have to get in there in the first couple of hours or there’s over 100 people already.”

An applicant tracking system worker said: “This is true (I work for an ATS) – I’d also recommend taking the extra step of applying on the company website.” Another who said the trick worked, added: “Yesss!! Absolutely true. The earlier I applied the more callbacks I got.”
