Brittany Vauser, who calls herself the “hack queen”, shared the simple trick in a video on TikTok, which has since been viewed more than 1.5 million times and has left viewers impressed

A woman’s clever heating trick has been dubbed “awesome” and is claimed to significantly reduce heat loss from your windows.

As temperatures continue to drop and energy bills rise, many Brits are choosing to layer up with jumpers to combat the cold, rather than keeping the heating on. However, there are several savvy methods that could help you warm your home without putting additional pressure on your wallet.

Brittany Vauser, who refers to herself as the “hack queen”, enjoys sharing her “easy to follow” advice for home care, cleaning, beauty, and more. This season, she has been offering her winter tips – including how to retain heat in our homes. “This going to reduce heat loss from your windows by up to 50 per cent,” Brittany stated.

You can decrease heat loss in three ways using a spray bottle filled with water, bubble wrap, some non-stick glass panelling, and some tape. Brittany explained: “What you do it you take a spray bottle with water, spray your window, and you can just stick your bubble wrap right on top and it adds an extra layer so you’re not losing heat through your windows.”

“Another option that’s not going to be quite as effective but its looks nicer is getting this stick-on stained glass panelling that you can just stick on the windows. Not only does it give a really pretty effect but it helps reduce heat loss.” She added: “The next thing you want to do is check for any draft through the cracks of your windows, a lot of the time there is tiny space or cold air coming in.”

“There is tape that you can stick to the body of your windows that you just stick to the bottom of your windows. You literally just stick it the bottom of your window panel. On your doorways you want to get a draft stopper.”

One viewer commented on the video, saying: “Bubblewrap taped on the inside of my garage made a significant different. Not pretty but effective.” “Awesome tip,” another chimed in. “Great ideas,” a third added.
