Under fire GoCompare advert star Wynne Evans has reportedly been axed from any future work with the comparison site. It comes after he was dropped from the Strictly Come Dancing tour at the start of the year after making a vile sexual remark.

The 53-year-old was filmed making an inappropriate sexual comment while at the press call for the then upcoming UK tour. He confirmed that he was “taking some time out” from his BBC radio show and the tour “to prioritise my wellbeing” when the scandal broke.

Evans was filmed making an inappropriate sexual comment to Strictly’s Janette Manrara when she joined in a group photo. He was heard singing: “Go Compare,” before adding: “Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick].” He then was heard using the demeaning term “spit roast” in reference to a lewd sexual act.

Now, Evans is reportedly planning to take action and seek “recompense” due to the dire consequences of his ongoing scandal. However, his situation may be set to get even worse as he could face losing his lucrative advert deal with GoCompare that he has held since 2009. They have continued to air previously filmed adverts with Evans following the scandal.

Their latest commercial was released two weeks before Evans, who has been dubbed Grope Compare, made the sexual remark. A source said: “The whole ordeal has been a real headache for GoCompare.

“It’s been a tough decision for them because Wynne is undeniably a major part of their branding. It’s also been tricky to even have him in the current ads, so it’s best not to have him filming for the next ones,” they told the Mail on Sunday.

The Mirror has contacted Wynne’s representatives and GoCompare.

It’s not the only work Evans has that took a hit due to his actions. He was later suspended from his BBC Wales radio show, which he is said to be fighting to keep. But sources close to the star claim he fears he’s been “wronged” and that the comments have been taken out of context.

They added that his legal team have complied a document of 30 pages which they hope will clear his name of any wrongdoing. Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Wynne has got a legal team in his corner and he has a 30-odd page dossier which he thinks will help his case.

“He absolutely loves his job on BBC Radio Wales and having to step back from it in the wake of his [Strictly] dismissal was heartbreaking.” Reports claimed that discussions were supposed to happen last month but he had made the decision to reschedule them due to his mental health.

At the time, a source told the Sun : “Wynne was due to meet the BBC last week to talk about the concerns raised against him and how, if they could, move forward. Wynne was ready to fight but in recent weeks he has been struggling mentally.”

It has been claimed Evans was hoping to gain “some recompense” as his reputation had been “left in tatters” following his comments. There had been reports that he was going to a tribunal with the BBC and would “fight with every breath” to clear his name.

When he finally addressed the scandal, he said in a statement: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.

“I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”

Speaking previously to the Mirror, Wynne said: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise.” Following the incident, the BBC revealed that they had warned Evans about his behaviour. “He has a lot of support from a lot of the backstage dancers. It’s been a really sad ending to what has been a really fun tour.”
