Holly Tandy appeared on the X Factor in 2017 and was just 15 years old at the time, but she’s grown up a lot since then and is now engaged to her long-term boyfriend
It’s been a whirlwind seven years for former The X Factor contestant Holly Tandy, who has truly blossomed since her time on the show. Back in 2017, a young 15 year old Holly stepped onto the stage and impressed judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne, and Louis Walsh with her powerful performance of Alicia Keys’ hit If I Ain’t Got You.
Under Sharon’s wing during the live shows, Holly, hailing from Barnsley, managed to secure a respectable seventh place, while Rak-Su took home the crown. Now at 23, Holly is all grown up and keeps her fans updated on her life’s adventures through social media, showcasing her fashion sense, travel escapades, and romantic life.
Holly has been with Lewis Akeister for four years, and in July, she excitedly announced their engagement to her 90,000 followers, revealing that Lewis proposed during a dreamy trip to Santorini, Greece, right after her 23rd birthday. Alongside a video capturing the magical moment, Holly penned: “24.07.2024 Mr and Mrs Akeister to be”.
In a heartfelt comment, Holly expressed her joy: “A massive thank you to all of you who commented we are just over the moon and can’t begin to describe what this bubble we are in right now feels like! ! So grateful for everyone who congratulated us, lots of love”. Joining in the celebration, The X Factor’s own Dermot O’Leary chimed in with a warm “Congrats! X”.
Holly has returned to her brunette roots after a phase where she embraced a blonde hairdo that made her seem like a different person from her X Factor stint.
Holly has posted selfies of her darker hair, in what she refers to as her ‘bride era’. The celebrity continues her singing ventures, gracing weddings and events with performances.
Holly’s Instagram profile describes her as a ‘presenter’, and she often shares videos of her engaging with local Barnsley talent. Holly has interviewed athletic icons such as Barnsley FC women’s and men’s team members and chatted with the likes of Conor Hourihane and Barnsley’s professional boxer, Callum Simpson.
Yet among Holly’s various accolades and joyful updates, there have been sombre moments, including the loss of her beloved grandfather. Fans will fondly recall seeing her grandad at her very first audition, visibly emotional over Holly’s singing.
Tragically, Holly revealed his death in May of the previous year. Paying tribute, she shared touching images on social media, penning an emotional message: “Rest in peace to my hero, grandad David. He meant the world and more to our family and he really will be missed. Love from your song bird, Holly dolly x”.
