Apple has just announced the release of iOS 18.4 and here’s how to get it on your iPhone today.
There’s good news if you have an iPhone tucked in your pocket. Apple has just confirmed the release of its latest iOS 18.4 operating system, and it should be available via the Settings menu right now. It’s a big release from the US tech firm but what is included in this blockbuster update and how do you get it on to your iPhone?
iOS 18.4 – which started arriving on devices overnight – has a plethora of changes, new features and important patches that should help to keep things safe.
Firstly, there’s the addition of 8 new emojis that bring a new smiley face with bags under the eyes to keyboards along with things such as a splatter, fingerprint, leafless tree and musical harp.
Those who like using the Apple News+ service should see a dedicated area for recipes. The Photos app has received a big update, which aims to make it easier to filter and find favourite images and add improved options for sorting and sharing albums.

Next, there are some nice additions for iPhones that are compatible with Apple Intelligence. iOS 18.4 brings a feature called Priority Notifications to devices, ensuring you never miss the most important chats from friends and family. As Apple explains, “important notifications that may require your immediate attention,” will now appear first.
The new Image Playground application – which is also part of Apple Intelligence – gets a boost with a new “Sketch Style” being added. This means there are even more ways to create your very own image on the phone.
Those who own a space-aged Vision Pro headset will also be pleased. Apple has now added a dedicated iPhone app to the home screen. This app offers useful tips and tricks and even lets you download apps onto the headset without putting it on.
Finally, Apple says that iOS 18.4 also fixes some important issues and bugs along with boosting overall security.

“This update introduces 8 new emojis, a new Sketch Style option in Image Playground, recipes in Apple News+, and enhancements to better organize and filter your library in Photos. This release includes other features, bug fixes, and security updates for your iPhone.”
To Install iOS 18.4, simply head to Settings and tap General, Software Update.
You should then see the option to Download and Install iOS 18.4. It’s quite a big file so it’s best to do the update when connected to Wi-Fi. Your iPhone will also need to restart so make sure you aren’t waiting for an important phone call before starting the installation process.
