Every year, there’s a trending summer drink that gets everyone excited – and this year is no different. The viral McDonald’s milkshake, with an unexpected twist, is getting many in the mood for garden shenanigans with pals. So, if you’ve ever thought that your Maccies milkshake could be elevated with a cheeky shot or two of booze, look no further.

Annabelle Victoria Glancy took to Instagram to show fans what she’d got from McDonald’s, namely a strawberry milkshake. But she was going to make it even more exciting by adding some Tequila Rose. It definitely makes the nostalgic milkshake taste much more grown up!

Annabelle said that she had “no idea how it’s gonna turn out” as she made the drink. It was a real experiment – as she was unsure about quantities.

She asked: “How much Tequila Rose do you reckon we need?”. She opted for a little splash initially, saying how “excited” she was to try it.

“Do you think we need a lot to make it taste a bit alcoholic?” she asked again, as she stirred the Tequila Rose in with her straw.

She continued: “I honestly saw this and thought I have got to try it. Apparently it is the summer drink. This is so pink”.

Annabelle then tried it to see whether she wanted to add more of the alcohol to her milkshake.

After taste testing it, she said: “Oh wow, that is so good,” but then she decided to add more Tequila Rose so she could taste it more strongly.

“This is good if you like strawberries, oh my gosh. I feel like if you’re a strawberry milkshake person and in the summer fancy adding a little bit of Tequila Rose… Right, let’s try it now. Cheers,” she said, before trying it again.

“That is really good,” she gushed, saying that she could add even more, or you could “add as much as you want”.

“If you try anything this summer, or even this bank holiday weekend, get a bottle of Tequila Rose, get a McDonald’s strawberry milkshake. That is so good,” Annabelle said.

In the comments, someone joked: “Go on, don’t be shy, put another shot in there, we won’t judge you!!”

When it came to how much to add, another suggested: “I go about 20% of the volume. My rule of thumb”.

The NHS recommends that adults do not exceed the following alcohol units:

  • men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis
  • spread your drinking over 3 or more days if you regularly drink as much as 14 units a week
  • if you want to cut down, try to have several drink-free days each week

You must be 18 and over to drink alcohol. Please drink responsibly.
