The UK’s crisp aisles are spicing up as a hugely popular snack with a striking blue colour is being rolled out in stores – and fans are scrambling to get their hands on a bag
Crisp lovers are in a frenzy after spotting a cult favourite flavour on Aldi’s shelves for the first time, with fans now scrambling to grab a bag.
US brand Takis has introduced its blue rolled tortilla chips to British snackers, catering to the “continued demand for spicy snacks.” The Blue Heat Takis, which rank as the second most popular flavour in the US, are touted as “an explosive combination of chilli and lime flavours.”
Shoppers are thrilled to see these Mexican snacks hit UK stores, adding to the existing Takis range that includes Fuego, Dragon Sweet Chilli, and Fuego. Already available at Co-Op, Morrisons is set to stock them from April 2.
This month, the 55g bag, retailing at £1.25, will also hit convenience store shelves. Aldi recently welcomed the crisps, pricing a large bag at £2.99. Aldi excitedly shared on Instagram: “You asked, we delivered! Takis Blue Heat have landed in Aldi for £2.99! Who’s ready to turn up the heat?”
Eager fans didn’t hesitate to express their excitement on the post, with one commenting: “Yes, finally.” Another chimed in and said: “Picked some up yesterday just had to get my hands on these!”
“What a beautiful time to be alive,” another fan exclaimed. Echoes of “Oh yes,” and “OMG,” filled the comments, with one person admitting they were “drooling” over the news.
However, some cautioned that these fiery treats aren’t for everyone; they pack a serious punch. One commenter even suggested: “Extreme Takis should come with a warning from the chief medical officer.”
In other snack-related news, Walkers issued an apology this week after crisp lovers were left disappointed due to the limited availability of a popular returning flavour.
Walkers announced that Worcester Sauce crisps would be making a comeback. However, when it was revealed that the coveted flavour was only available in Worcestershire, fans took to social media demanding a nationwide release – with some even claiming they had travelled to the county just to get their hands on a bag.
Walkers has now apologised for the limited availability of the crisps and decided to make the Worcester Sauce flavour available for purchase across the entire UK.
