With summer in sight, green-fingered shoppers are stocking up on garden decor and fairy lights. For many, it’s the perfect time of the year to start planning summer soirées – and how to impress guests.

If you’re after beautiful garden lights, there’s one trend in particular that’s everywhere this year. Shoppers have fallen in love with hot air balloon solar lights, which are on offer everywhere from B&Q to Amazon.

B&Q, for instance, offers a £19.99 Solar Powered LED Hot Air Balloon Hanging Lantern Decoration, while Amazon offers a £16.99 Hot Air Balloon Lantern. Now, Aldi is introducing a £6.99 Solar Hot Air Balloon.

The SpecialBuy is available in stores from Thursday (March 27), and there are three colourways to choose from: Multicoloured, Orange/Yellow or Pink/Purple. Whichever colour you opt for, the light will likely make a beautiful addition to any garden.

The product description says: “Get your garden ready for those summer nights. Perfect for adding a burst of colour to any outdoor space. Fun balloon light with realistic flickering flame effect.”

What’s more, shoppers who have already purchased similar lights praised the “magical” look. As with all SpecialBuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Fortunately, there are a range of affordable alternatives on offer. Earlier this month, Asda shoppers couldn’t contain their excitement over the store’s £5 version.

Commenting on Asda’s design, a fan said: “I’ve got these. They’re so pretty when switched on at night.” A second said: “I want to fill my whole garden with these. So gorgeous!” A third praised: “These would look so magical all around a garden!”

Elsewhere, Home Bargains also delighted shoppers with its take on the trend. The range includes a £7.99 Firefly 3 Pack Hot Air Balloon Solar Light and a £3.99 Firefly Hot Air Balloon Spiral Solar Light.

Of course, shoppers are likely to have their favourites, owing to differences in size and colour between the lights available from different retailers. While it’s too early to predict how Aldi’s lights will perform, it’s safe to bet they’ll be just as popular as the rest.
