The line-up for a new show in which Alison Hammond stays with celebrities in their homes is said to include a member of the Spice Girls and an acclaimed actor. Other “big names” are said to have also signed up for the project.

Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend was announced by the BBC last year. It was teased at the time that each episode would see Alison, 50, spend 48 hours with a celebrity and that the six-part series was set to be filmed across the UK.

Ahead of its launch later this year, it’s now been reported that the celebrities who signed up for the show include Mel B, 49, Luke Evans, 45, and Perrie Edwards, 31. According to the Sun, like “at least three other big names,” the trio have welcomed Alison into their homes for the show, which is reportedly set to air on BBC One over the summer.

A source told the outlet that it’s “shaping up to be amazing” and that “some massive names” have already filmed with Alison. They said it offers a “really candid insight” into the guest’s lives, saying: “She literally moves in with them and then gets under their skin and sees what makes them tick.”

The source suggested that Little Mix member Perrie’s fans have “never really seen her at home”. They said the singer talks “a lot” about her life as part of the group – who won the X Factor in 2011 – as well as the “transition from that to motherhood” and more recently launching her solo career.

They teased that it’s “the same” with actor Luke – who’s credits include Beauty and the Beast (2017) as well as the Hobbit film series. The source said that fans would not have predicted that he would ever “sign up for something like this,” adding that he’s known for his on-screen work so Alison “probing him with questions” in his home is something that hasn’t been seen before.

The source then teased that former Spice Girls member Mel provides “comedy” in the episode that she appears in. They added that she and Alison “get on like a house on fire” and that fans of the group “don’t want to miss” the show.

When Big Weekend was first announced in April last year, This Morning host Alison expressed her excitement over the new project in a statement. Teasing what to expect, she promised that “no stone or cupboard [would] go unturned”.

She said at the time: “I’m so excited to serve up some big lols and tons of OMG revelations on the BBC as I spend some quality time with some of the UK’s favourite celebrities.” Alison added: “When I’m on a mission no secret is safe, and trust me no stone or cupboard will go unturned!”

The BBC said in the initial announcement that Alison “will really get to know” the celebrities. It was also teased that the show, made by BBC Studios Entertainment, “will be serving up big laughs, big revelations and a whole load of celebrity realness.”

Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, said: “Alison is one of the most warm-hearted presenters in the UK and it’s no surprise that big name celebrities are lining up to have her spend the weekend at their homes. It’s going to be a blast!”

Whilst Mel Balac, Creative Director for Entertainment at BBC Studios said: “Alison is the perfect woman for the job. She wears her heart on her sleeve and her incredible openness, energy and warmth will shed new light on the celebrities she spends the weekend with. When Alison comes knocking it’s a special appointment you won’t want to miss!”

The line-up and release date for Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend has yet to be announced by the BBC ahead of it launching. It was stated last year that broadcast details and the celebrity guests “will be announced in due course”.
