If you own an iPhone, it’s a good idea to check your settings without delay.

Anyone with an iPhone tucked in their pocket must head to their settings and check for the latest iOS update. Apple has just pushed out some new software for its popular devices, and the US firm says it is “recommended for all users.”

If you use an iPhone, head to Settings > General > Software Updates and make sure you have iOS 18.2.1 installed. If your device is pending this update, you’d be wise to hit the download and install button as soon as possible.

Apple confirmed in its release notes that “This update provides important bug fixes and is recommended for all users. ” It’s currently unclear what issues this patch fixes (Apple hasn’t confirmed this yet) , but you’d be wise not to wait too long before installing it on your device.

Now may also be a good time to switch on Apple’s “Automatic Updates” as this means you will always have the most up-to-date software loaded onto the phone and you don’t have to keep checking to see if things have been installed.

Automatic Updates often occur during the night, which means you’ll wake up with an iPhone that’s ready to go and won’t need rebooting when you need to use it during the day.

iOS 18.2.1 follows the release of iOS 18.2 which includes the hotly anticipated release of Apple Intelligence. This massive upgrade, which was first announced back in June last year, includes smart features such as automatic image retouching, instant copy editing, help with keeping your inbox clear and integration with the ChatGPT service.

Apple Intelligence is one of the biggest releases in years, but it’s only available on devices including the iPhone 15 Pro series and full iPhone 16 range.

Rumours are also rife that a new budget iPhone SE could launch this month and this cheaper device looks unlikely not to feature Apple Intelligence as well so watch this space.
