Sisters Eliza and Henrietta Huszti were found dead in the River Dee in Aberdeen after they vanished in mysterious circumstances on January 7, sparking a widespread investigation
The search for sisters Eliza and Henrietta ended in tragedy after police found their bodies after they vanished while out walking in Aberdeen.
The sisters, both 32, and originally from Hungary, vanished in the early hours of the morning on January 7 as they walked along the River Dee. Their bodies were recovered from the river close to where they were last see on CCTV.
But the circumstances around their deaths remains a mystery and has sparked different theories about how they died. Their father Miklos Huszti believes his daughters were lured down to the river and were killed.
Floral tributes were placed alongside the river close to where the sisters’ bodies were found. The family of the sisters have also said they are “devastated” after they were notified about the discovery of the bodies.

What Miklos Huszti said
“I have no idea what happened to my daughters, but I am sure they did not commit suicide,” Miklos told Hungarian media. He went on to reference a strange text that was sent from Henrietta’s phone to their landlady on January 7 that said they would be leaving the property and not returning.
“I believe that they did not send the SMS to their landlord, but someone else or others who cheated and kidnapped my children,” Mr Huszti said. officers who visited the sisters’ flat found items belonging to them inside, including Eliza’s phone.
Police Scotland’s comments
Following the discovery of the bodies Superintendent David Howieson said: “Our thoughts remain with the Huszti family and we are keeping them fully updated following these recoveries. We know how much of an impact this has had in Aberdeen and much further afield and I would like to thank everyone who has assisted with our investigation.”
Sisters’ last movements
Eliza and Henrietta were seen walking along Victoria Bridge on the day before they disappeared. The sisters returned to the same location the following day after telling their landlord they would not return to the property.
They were seen on CCTV walking on Markey Street at about 2:12am. The pair crossed the bridge and turned right on a footpath next to the river dee heading in the direction of Aberdeen Boat Club.

A widespread search was sparked after the sisters went missing and their bodies were found several weeks later. The circumstances around their deaths remain a mystery. Police Scotland said it had found no evidence to suggest a third party was involved in their deaths but is exploring all possibilities.
